For the second time this season, redshirt-freshman
Sean Cleary has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Cleary also garnered the award on September 29. Cleary was part of a defensive line that held No. 7 Colorado School of Mines scoreless for the first time this season in a 0-0 double overtime tie on the road Friday night. He helped hold the Orediggers to nine shots on goal. On Sunday in a 4-1 win at Colorado Christian University, he and the Skyhawks held the Cougars to only five shots on goal.
Colorado School of Mines will host the 2015 RMAC Men's Soccer Tournament as the No. 1 seed. CSU-Pueblo has clinched the No. 6 seed, but seeds No. 2-5 are yet to be determined between FLC, Colorado Mesa, MSU Denver and UCCS. Two home wins this weekend by the Skyhawks would clinch the No. 2 seed and a first round bye.
The Skyhawks will play host to MSU Denver on Friday at 3 p.m. and UCCS on Sunday at 1 p.m.
MSU Denver and UCCS enter the weekend tied with a 6-2-0 RMAC record. The Roadrunners, who are unbeaten in their last seven games (6-0-1), are 11-3-2 overall, while the Mountain Lions own an 11-4-0 overall record.
FLC owns a 33-21-4 all-time record over the Roadrunners, and are 18-10-1 at home against MSUD. Both games last year went into overtime, with the Roadrunners winning the first game at FLC, 3-2, and the Skyhawks winning the second meeting, 2-1, at MSU Denver.
The Skyhawks lead the series over UCCS with a 40-8-4 all-time record, and a 20-5-1 all-time record against the Mountain Lions on Dirks Field. Sunday will mark the first meeting this season between the two teams. Both teams faced each other twice last year, and both of those games were at UCCS.
