FLC recorded several season highs against SMU, including points (88), field goal percentage (44.6%), 3-point field goal percentage (35.3%, 6 of 17), made free throws (24), free throws attempted (29) and free throw percentage (82.8%).
For the third straight week, FLC has been ranked in the 2015-16 Women's Basketball Division II South Central Regional Poll. Â FLC remains at No. 5 (tied) this week.
The Skyhawks are third in the league in the overall standings with a 4-1 record. Â FLC is behind Western State (2-0) and Colorado State-Pueblo (5-1).
FLC will open the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season at Adams State University this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Â The Grizzlies are 0-2 and have not played a game since Nov. 13-14 when they faced Eastern New Mexico and Westminster in Durango, Colo. Â However, ASU will play Northern New Mexico College on Wednesday.
The Skyhawks lead the league in scoring margin (16.6 points per game) and three-point field goal defense (24.7). Â They are second overall in free throw percentage (75.0%), rebounding margin (6.4 average), fewest turnovers per game (12.0), and win/loss percentage (.800).
The Skyhawks return three starters from last year's 16-11 squad, and 10 letterwinners. Â FLC has seven newcomers to the team:
