Skyhawks Softball Game Day Notes - Feb. 18, 2015


Fort Lewis will open their home season this Friday and Saturday when they play host to two double headers against Black Hills State University. 

Originally scheduled for a Saturday/Sunday series, the Skyhawks home opener was moved up one day due to an winter storm moving into the area.

Black Hills is led by Katie Campo who has four RBI's this season. The Yellow Jackets come into the weekend with an overall record of 1-4. 

Fort Lewis is 10-2 all-time against Black Hills State. The Skyhawks won eight straight games against the Yellow Jackets from April 20, 2013 to March 9, 2014. Black Hills State is just 1-7 on the road against Fort Lewis. 

These are the first RMAC games played by both teams this season.

Fort Lewis competed in the sixth annual Montana State Billings  Desert Stinger tournament last weekend. The Skyhawks fell in all five games. 

On Friday against Notre Dame de Namur (L, 10-5), Tristen Gilbert had three hits and one RBI. 

Against Western Washington (L, 15-7) Missy Fundora tallied two hits and two runs while teammate Myndee Thompson had two hits and two RBI's. 

The first game played on Saturday was against Eastern New Mexico (L, 2-1). Adriana Rosthenhausler hit her first home run of the season.  This is also the first official home run of the season for the Skyhawks. 

The Saturday afternoon game was played against St. Edward's University (L, 11-1). Kiley Raica drove in the only run of the game scored by Denae Fisher. 

Thompson led the Skyhawks against Lubbock Christian (L, 7-2)with two hits and one RBI. 

Myndee Thompson leads the Skyhawks in batting average with .500 average. Thompson also leads the team in hits with 19 and RBI's with 19. Victoria Johnson is the Skyhawks leading pitcher right now with 29 innings pitched including seven complete games and 12 strikeouts.
