VideoAbout the SkyhawksIn a three-point setback at Adams State last Saturday, the Skyhawks scored the fifth most points this season with 74. They also made a season high seven three-point field goals, and attempted the second most field goals (26) and three-point field goals (21).

Mary Brinton scored a season high 22 points for the second time this season. She also matched a career best 13 rebounds.

The 77 points allowed were the second most this season (91 at UCCS). The Grizzlies also recorded the second most field goals made (25), attempted (66), and three-point field goals attempted (27) against the Skyhawks this season, and stole the ball a season high 19 times.

Seven Fort Lewis College women's basketball student-athletes were named to the 2014-15 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. Kate Bayes, Skylyn Webb, Kylie Santos and Mary Brinton were voted to the all-academic first team, while Ande Lampert, Meagan Prins, and Kelsey Wainright were named to the Honor Roll.Â
The Skyhawks have one of the best defenses in the conference allowing only 59.8 points per game, the fourth fewest points allowed by any team in the RMAC. Fort Lewis is also second in the RMAC for defensive field goal percentage, holding opponents to 35.1 percent. The Skyhawks rank second in steals (194) and third in blocked shots (8 7 total).

Fort Lewis has two student-athletes ranked in the top 20 for rebounding with
Mary Brinton placing ninth (6.4) and
Kaile Magazzeni 12th overall (6.1 rebounds per game) in the RMAC. Magazzeni is fifth in the RMAC with a total of 26 blocked shots.
Kate Bayes is third in the RMAC in steals with a 2.4 average. Brinton ranks first the RMAC in field goal percentage, knocking down 54.5 percent of her shots, and sixth overall in scoring (14.1 points per game).

The Skyhawks are returning nine letterwinners from last year's team, two of which are starters (
Erin Curry and
Kaile Magazzeni). Fort Lewis finished the 2013-14 season 16-11 overall and 13-9 in the RMAC (third place).

About the MustangsThe Mustangs as a team rank fifth in the conference for scoring offense , averaging 64.6 points per game and second in scoring defense only allowing 58.7 points per game. Western New Mexico ranks first in defending the three-point shot allowing only 22.8 percent of three-point field goals to go in. The Mustangs are one spot behind the Skyhawks in the RMAC rating for steals averaging 9.8 steals per game. Western New Mexico also ranks first in assist-to-turnover-ratio with a 1.1 rating.

Ashley Mitchell leads the Mustangs with 13.1 points per game (10th best in the RMAC). RaTanya Newsome has a league-best 109 assists on the season. Newsome averages 2.4 steals per game which is second in the RMAC. Nalani Hernandez is Western New Mexico's leading rebounder averaging 7.3 boards per game.

All-Time Series vs. Western New MexicoThe Skyhawks own a 36-16 all-time record against Western New Mexico and have won 21 of the last 23 meetings. FLC has been victorious in nine of the last 10 meetings on the Mustangs home court. The Skyhawks have won 20 of 23 games against WNMU when playing at WNMU.

About the CowgirlsNew Mexico Highlands is currently on a nine game losing streak. Their last win came Dec. 20 at home against CSU-Pueblo. The Cowgirls are 4-15 overall, 3-12 in the league, and 4-5 at home. Their 3-12 record ties them for 13th place in the league standings with Western State.
