Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – March 24, 2015 –
Rebecca Miller scored a career high four goals Tuesday afternoon to lead the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team to their fourth straight win of the season. The Skyhawks defeated Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich., 13-4.
"The awesome thing about this team is that each person can step up when we need them to," said head coach
Julia Decker. "We were able to take care of the ball and finish on cage today, two things that have been a main focus of ours lately. I am proud that we are able to make adjustments when needed, and that we have each other's back all over the field. This was a great team win for us."
The Skyhawks scored the first seven goals of the game. Just 30 seconds into the game, Miller found the back of the net twice for a 2-0 lead.
Taylor Cabrera and
Sara McMahon (
Jam Vertner assist) added one goal each before Miller (
Brooke Galle assist) recorded her first career hat trick just 12 minutes into the game.
At 17:07, McMahon (Vertner assist) scored her second of three goals against Aquinas and
Lauren Appenzeller added the Skyhawks seventh goal of the half with less than nine minutes to play.
Leading 8-1 at the 8:19 mark,

Cabrera, McMahon and
Ellie Carpenter each found the back of the net to score the first three goals of the second half before AC closed the game with back-to-back goals.
The 13-4 win improves the Skyhawks record to 5-1 on the season.
Miller tallied a game high nine shots, followed by McMahon's seven and Cabrera's four.
