DURANGO, Colo. – July 30, 2015 – Elle Fracker has been named the Fort Lewis College head softball coach, announced today by Director of Athletics
Gary Hunter.
"We are delighted to have Elle join the Skyhawk family as our new softball coach," said Hunter. "She has proven to be a successful coach in her young career. Her passion for the game, coupled with her coaching experience and strong track record of recruiting solid students – both academically and athletically – will help take the program to the next level."
Fracker has served as the head softball coach at Valley City State University in Valley City, North Dakota since August 2013. The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) and VCSU Coach of the Year, Fracker is coming off of two consecutive winning seasons with more than 20 wins.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to join the Fort Lewis College family and the softball program," said Fracker. "Coaching in the highly competitive RMAC will be a challenge, one that I look forward to. Working with and getting to know the talented student-athletes at FLC will be an exciting new beginning."
Fracker comes to Fort Lewis College with more than seven years of collegiate coaching experience, including high level involvement with strength and conditioning programs and fundraising events.
In her first year as head coach at VCSU, Fracker led the team to their first regular season championship in 24 years. This past season, the Vikings were named an NAIA Scholar Team, and six student-athletes earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition.
Among her day-to-day operations as head coach, Fracker successfully ran fundraising programs that exceeded $20,000 each year. She was directly responsible for spearheading the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and acted as a faculty representative.
Prior to taking the reigns as head coach of the Vikings, Fracker held the assistant coach position at Valley City State for the 2012-13 season. She also served as the assistant softball coach and resident liaison at Oberlin College in Ohio in 2010-11, and the assistant coach at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., from 2008-10.
Fracker graduated from Indiana State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Sport Management. She lettered all four years on the ISU varsity softball team.
She will begin her duties as the Skyhawks head softball coach on Aug. 15, 2015.
