Saturday's game against OPSU featured the FLC cannon, which had not made an appearance at a football game since 2010.  The cannon is traditionally fired off following the National Anthem, each Skyhawks touchdown, field goal and safety, and at the conclusion of the game.

Fort Lewis opened their home season with a 41-14 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State University.  The Skyhawks win over the Aggies was their eighth straight win and improved their series lead to 8-1 all-time against OPSU.

The Skyhawks totaled 425 yard of total offense on 76 plays.  Nearly half of the yards came on the ground (203).

Juquelle Thompson recorded a career high 110 receiving yards.  He also matched a career high in receptions (four) and receiving touchdowns (two).

Sophomore PJ Hall posted a season high 118 net rushing yards.  Hall carried the ball 31 times and ran in two touchdowns.

The Skyhawks defense held OPSU's leading rusher - Chris McClendon - to 86 rushing yards, 32 of which came on one run.

Kaimon Ontiveros led the Skyhawks defense with nine tackles (two tackles for a loss of two yards).  Dalten Lane recorded five tackles and one sack for a loss of four yards to go with his three quarterback hurries.

Jordan Gillen scampered in from nine yards out on a fake field goal attempt in the second quarter to give FLC a 17-6 lead.

Daniel Walker recovered a fumble in the third quarter off a botched snap on a punt attempt, setting up a short field for the Skyhawks on OPSU's 8-yard line.  PJ Hall punched in the touchdown run two plays later for a 34-13 lead.

Fort Lewis will be looking for their first win against Black Hills State University.  The Yellow Jackets are 3-0 all-time against FLC.  The only game played between the two teams at Ray Dennison Memorial Field was Nov. 16, 2013 that featured a 17-14 BHSU win.  FLC held a 14-0 lead after one quarter in that game, but were held scoreless the final three quarters.  BHSU hit a 34-yard field goal with 5:59 remaining to break a 14-14 tie.

Black Hills State will be playing their third straight game on the road.  BHSU opened the season Sept. 5 at Idaho State (L, 55-0) and suffered a two-point loss this past weekend at South Dakota Mines (28-26).

Under center for BHSU is Ryan Hommel who has completed 29-of-68 passes for 304 yards (two interceptions).  He has thrown to 10 different targets.  Jerome Krusl leads the receiving corps with 87 receiving yards.

All four of the Yellow Jackets touchdowns have come on the ground.  Phydell Paris has carried the ball 42 times for 229 yards and two scores, and Hommel has added two touchdown scores on 19 carries and 48 yards.

Travis Groves leads the defense with 16 tackles (10 solo).  He also has four pass breakups.

As a team, the Yellow Jackets are averaging 155.0 passing yards per game and 160.5 rushing yards per game.
