The game marked the fourth matchup between the two teams.

The 48 points scored by the Skyhawks were the most since the 2011 team put 48 on the scoreboard against South Dakota School of Mines on Sep. 3 (W, 48-30).Â

Saturday's 41-point win was the largest margin of victory since Oct. 18, 1975, when FLC defeated Colorado Mesa University (then-called Mesa), 57-7.

The last time the Skyhawks scored 40 or more points in back-to-back games was in 2005 against Chadron State on Oct. 1 (W, 42-35) and Fort Hays State on Oct. 8 (W, 51-20).

Dalten Lane blocked a 22-yard field goal attempt that was recovered by
Andrew Ike in the endzone who ran it 100 yards for a Skyhawks touchdown.

Kipp Castanha was responsible for 12 points on Saturday after making both field goal attempts and all six extra point attempts. He leads the team in scoring this season with 25 points (4-for-5 made field goals, 13-13 PAT's). He is second in the league in scoring this season with 25 points.

Gabe Ogbonnaya, Jr. scored his first career touchdown on Saturday after rushing 14 times for 74 yards. He finished the game with two rushing scores.

The Skyhawks are out-scoring their opponents by 10.3 points per game. FLC is averaging 229 yards on the ground this season while holding their opponents to only 103.3 rushing yards per game.

The Skyhawks have been in the red zone 17 times this season and have scored all but three times for an 82 percent mark. Eleven of those scores have been touchdowns (65 percent).

Jordan Doyle's 82-yard pass to
Juquelle Thompson against Oklahoma Panhandle State on Sept. 12 is the longest pass and reception in the RMAC this season.

As a team, the Skyhawks have several league highs this season, including rushing attempts (55, vs. Black Hills State on Sept. 19, 2015), rushing touchdowns (4 vs. Black Hills State on Sept. 19, 2015), completion percentage (15-20 for 75%, vs. Black Hills State on Sept. 19, 2015), and rushing first downs (17, vs. Black Hills State on Sept. 19, 2015).

New Mexico Highlands will be playing their first home game this weekend, which is also the Cowboys Homecoming game. NMHU enters the game 0-3 overall and 0-1 in RMAC games.

Kaimon Ontiveros ranks ninth in the league in tackles with 25 (8.3 per game).Â
Andrew Ike is 15th overall with 21.

The offensive front line is the most experienced group for the Skyhawks.Â
Tyler Jones,
Taylor Suta and
Kenny Shinley have combined to start 49 games. Accompanying them on the front line is
Preston Geib and
Matt Mahe, both of whom redshirted in 2014.

Sophomore tight end
Austin Shaw played in 10 games as a true freshman. His versatility to block and catch complement the Skyhawks passing game.

Senior quarterback
Jordan Doyle is in his third year under center. Doyle saw action in eight games last year before missing the final three games to an injury. He completed 151 passes on 272 attempts for 10 touchdowns and 1,509 yards, averaging 188.6 passing yards per game.

In the backfield for the Skyhawks is sophomore
PJ Hall who rushed for over 700 yards as a freshman. Â

The 2015 season marks
John L. Smith's third season on the Skyhawks sideline and 21st overall as a head coach.Â

Fort Lewis College senior defensive lineman
Sione Folaumoeloa was selected to the 2015 Preseason All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team.Â
Â
As a team, the Skyhawks received 27 points, placing them eighth in the RMAC Football preseason poll.
Â
A six-foot, 230-pound lineman from Salt Lake City, Folaumoeloa started all 11 games last season for the Skyhawks. He accounted for 51 tackles, including 26 solo stops. Folaumoeloa led the team with 12 tackles for a loss of 45 yards.

The Skyhawks finished the 2014 campaign with a 3-8 overall record and a 2-7 league record, tying for ninth place in the league standings. Fort Lewis' season was highlighted by a 23-22 home win over Colorado State University-Pueblo, then ranked No. 2 in the nation. The ThunderWolves would go on to win the NCAA Division II National Championship.
