Quick HitsThe Fort Lewis College women's basketball team dropped two road games by a total of five points this past weekend at Colorado Christian (L, 69-72) and Colorado Mines (L, 63-65). Â The two losses were the first back-to-back losses by the Skyhawks this season.
Fort Lewis is 4-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Â They are tied for fourth place in the Mountain Division and tied for ninth overall.
FLC ranks in the top 3 in the RMAC in multiple categories, including turnovers per game (first, 13.1), offense (second, 71.2), turnover margin (second, 5.1), free throw percentage (second, 74.8), assists (third, 190), fewest turnovers (third, 183), and free throws made (third, 193).
The Skyhawks will continue their four game road streak this weekend at Colorado Mesa University and Westminster College.
CMU enters the weekend 5-4 in the league (8-5 overall), tying them for third in the Rocky Division and sixth overall. Â WC, which is in their first year in the RMAC, is 5-8 overall and 2-7 in league games (eighth in Rocky Division, tied-13th overall).
The last time FLC defeated the Mavericks on their home court was Dec. 16, 2011 (W, 69-55). Â CMU's Laurin Rivera leads the RMAC is assists (66, 5.1 per game). Â Teammate Bryanna Adams leads the league in free throw percentage (94.3), three-point field goals made (46, 3.54 per game) and three-point field goal percentage (47.4 percent).
FLC played host to Westminster College in the season opening game on Nov. 13. Â The Skyhawks won the non-conference matchup, 73-46. Â The Griffins own the all-time series lead over FLC, 21-15. Â The last time Fort Lewis won at WC was Dec. 23, 1979.
