NOTES
The Skyhawks enter the week tied for third place in the RMAC standings with a 4-2-0 record (5-5-0 overall). FLC has won three of their last four games.
The Skyhawks dropped a 1-0 decision last Friday at home to Colorado Mesa University. The Mavericks scored the game-winning goal in the 82
nd minute.
On Sunday, the Skyhawks traveled to Salt Lake City. In only his second game of the season,
Robbie Young led Fort Lewis to a 1-0 win at Westminster College. The goal was Young's first of his career. The shutout win also marked the first time this season FLC held their opponent scoreless.
Newcomer
Salifu Jatta ranks fourth in the league in assists (four), fifth in shots (29) and sixth in points (eight).
Churchill Onumonu's four goals are the fifth most in the RMAC.
Elliot Chadderton has posted a 1.72 goals against average in nine games, marking the seventh lowest GAA in the RMAC.
The Skyhawks offense is fourth in the RMAC in goals (17) and points (45). FLC has taken the sixth most shots in the RMAC (140), and allowed the sixth fewest goals (19).
THE SERIES
FLC is 13-1-0 all-time against the Grizzlies, including 6-0-0 in their last six games. The Skyhawks are 6-1-0 against ASU on Dirks Field.
The Pack's win over the Skyhawks on Sept. 25 snapped a six game winning streak by FLC. The Skyhawks lead the all-time series, 45-9-3, and 26-3-1 at Dirks Field.
SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
Adams State University enters the week tied for seventh with a 1-5 league record (4-6 overall). The Grizzlies are currently on a four game losing streak. ASU is 1-2 this season on the road.
The Grizzlies are ninth in the RMAC in shots (99), sixth in points (41) and assists (11), and eighth in goals allowed (21).
SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES
CSU-Pueblo is tied with ASU in the league standings with a 1-5 record (3-7 overall). Since defeating the Skyhawks on Sept. 25, CSUP has gone 0-3.
The Pack are ranked seventh in the league in shots (122), goals (11), assists (9) and goals allowed (20).
Miles Sanchez leads CSUP in shots (27), points (eight) and goals (four).
MEET THE TEAM
The 2016 Skyhawks squad returns eight starters from 2015 (

Malik Badawi). The Skyhawks lost starters
Yannis Becker,
Zac Lawrence and
Austin Derksen to graduation.
This year's squad boasts student-athletes from eight different states and seven different countries (England, Ecuador, Germany, Netherlands, Scotland, Somalia, and Spain). Of the 30-player roster, 19 student-athletes hail from the United States and 11 from international countries.
PRESEAON HONORS
The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team was picked fifth out of 11 teams in the 2016 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason poll. Sophomore defender
Sean Cleary and senior midfielder
Tamino Kroeger were voted to the preseason team.
The Skyhawks finished the 2015 campaign with a 12-6-2 overall record and a 6-3-1 league record, finishing fifth in the RMAC standings.
Cleary was named the 2016 RMAC Preseason Defender of the Year last week. He received several honors as a redshirt-freshman, including being named to the Academic All-District first team, Academic All-RMAC first team, All-NSCAA South Central Region third team and All-RMAC first team honors.
An All-NSCAA South Central Region Second Team and All-RMAC First Team honoree in 2015, Kroeger scored a team high 10 goals in his junior campaign. He started 11 of 15 games he played in and netted three game-winning goals. Kroeger tallied a season high four points in two games last year. He finished the season with 21 points (10 goals, one assist).
NEW DIRECTION
Fort Lewis is under the direction of first year head coach
David Oberholtzer. A graduate of Fort Lewis, Oberholtzer is no stranger to Fort Lewis as he played two seasons for the Skyhawks before serving as an assistant coach from 2009-2012. A member of the 2006 and 2007 teams, Oberholtzer was a part of the Skyhawks NCAA National Runner-up team in 2006. As an assistant coach for the Skyhawks, Oberholtzer helped coached FLC to two NCAA National Championships in 2009 and 2011.
ON THE AIR
The legendary voice of the Skyhawks, John Mahoney, returns for his 12
th season calling Skyhawks soccer games on the air. Mahoney will be reunited with Phil Duke who is returning after a seven year hiatus. Mahoney and Duke will call all Skyhawks men's and women's soccer home games. LOOKING AHEAD
The Skyhawks will travel to Colorado Christian University Oct. 14 and Colorado School of Mines on Oct. 16. FLC will then return home Oct. 21 and 23 to host the same two teams.
