Skyhawks to Open Home Season on Saturday

UPCOMING GAMES
The undefeated Fort Lewis College women's basketball team will open their home season this Saturday, Nov. 19 against NAIA Northern New Mexico College.  Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
 
NOTES
After playing three games in four days, the Skyhawks return home with an unblemished 3-0 record.  FLC started the season on Friday with a 56-50 neutral site win against Texas-Permian Basin in Portales, N.M.  The Skyhawks followed Friday's win with a victory over host team Eastern New Mexico University on Saturday, 73-69.  The Skyhawks completed the trifecta on Monday at Western New Mexico University, 72-54.
 
The Skyhawks are outscoring their opponents, 67.0-57.7 points per game, and they hold a 3.0 rebounding margin (43.7-40.7).  FLC is shooting 41.3 percent from the floor (76-of-184), including 33.3 percent from long range (17-of-51).
 
Alyssa Yocky leads the Skyhawks offense with 12 points per game.  She is second on the team in rebounding with 23 caroms (7.7 average).  Yocky recorded her first double-double of the season Monday night at WNMU after posting 15 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Kayla Herrera has recorded four blocks in three games and is the Skyhawks leading rebounder with 24.
 
Briana Clah has dished out a team high 14 assists and grabbed a team high four steals. 
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Northern New Mexico enters the week with a 3-2 record.  The Eagles started their season with three straight wins over Dine, Southwest and Adams State, but have lost their last two games to Regis and Wayland Baptist.  NNMC is averaging 74.6 points per game and allowing 61.2 points.
 
Three Eagles are averaging double digit points with RaeAnne Herrera leading the group with 13.4 points per game.  She has also blocked a team high six shots.
 
UP NEXT
The Skyhawks will take Thanksgiving Weekend off and return to the hard court Dec. 2-3 when they play host to Colorado State-Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands.  Both games will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
