Women’s Soccer Opens RMAC Tournament in Pueblo

NOTES
The Skyhawks women's soccer team is the No. 7 seed in the 2016 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Soccer championship tournament.
 
The RMAC women's soccer championship tournament expanded this year from six teams to eight teams.  Westminster College finished fifth in the regular season standings but the Griffins are ineligible to qualify for post-season play during their transition to NCAA Division II status.
 
The Skyhawks face No. 2 seed Colorado State University-Pueblo on the road tonight at 7 p.m. in the first round of the tournament. 
 
FLC defeated the ThunderWolves Dirks Field, 3-2, on Sept. 16 in the Skyhawks home opener and RMAC opener.
 
The Skyhawks are 0-4-1 in their last five games.  The Skyhawks posted their last win on Oct. 7 in a Homecoming victory over Black Hills State University, 3-0.
 
FLC wrapped up the regular season with a 6-8-2 overall record and a 5-6-1 conference record.  The Pack are 12-3-1 overall and 9-2-1 in the RMAC.
 
Fort Lewis College is 16-7-3 all-time in the RMAC championship tournament, and 3-0-0 against the ThunderWolves.
 
Six Fort Lewis College women's soccer student-athletes earned RMAC post-season honors.  Keisha GreenCarolyn Archer and Courtney Riley were named to the Second Team All-RMAC, while Shayla MaleckiAlicia Sanchez and Haleigh Macomb were named Honorable Mention.
 
THE SERIES
FLC leads the all-time series with CSU-Pueblo, 22-14-6, including the win in the conference opener.  The Skyhawks are 8-0-1 in the last nine meetings with the Pack.  FLC holds a slight advantage over the ThunderWolves when playing on the road, 9-8-4.
 
SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES
At the helm of the Pack is 2016 RMAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year, Paul Regrutto.  CSUP finished two points behind Colorado School of Mines for the regular season championship with a 9-2-1 league record.  After dropping their first two conference games of the season, the Pack finished the regular season going 9-0-1.  The ThunderWolves are 9-1-0 at home.  They have outscored their opponents 25-12 this season, allowing the second fewest goals in the league and shutting out nine opponents.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The winner of tonight's match will face the winner between #3 Regis and #6 Colorado Christian University in the semifinal round on Nov. 4.
