Men’s Basketball at Adams State; Home vs. Westminster

UPCOMING GAMES
Fort Lewis College will play their third road game in five days tonight when they travel over Wolf Creek Pass to Alamosa to face Adams State University at 7:30 p.m.  The Skyhawks will return home to play host to Westminster College on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Whalen Gymnasium.
 
NOTES
The Skyhawks and MSU Denver are the two lone RMAC teams undefeated in league games (4-0).
 
After recording a road sweep over Colorado Mesa University and Western State Colorado University for the first time since the 2005-06 season, the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team moved up two spots to No. 18 in this week's National Association Basketball Coaches Division II poll.
 
This marks the 16th consecutive week the Skyhawks have been ranked in the top 25 of the NABC poll, and the fifth straight week this season.
 
Fort Lewis started the weekend with an 89-72 win over the Mavericks Friday at Browson Arena.  Saturday's 107-103 overtime win over the Mountaineers was the Skyhawks second overtime game this season, and the fourth time they eclipsed the 100-point mark.  The 103 points scored by WSCU are the most allowed by FLC this season.
 
The Skyhawks are on a nine-game winning streak and own a 9-1 overall record and 4-0 league record.
 
FLC owns a 23-game winning streak at home.
 
For the second time this season, junior forward Brandon Wilson has been named the RMAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. 
 
Wilson accounted for three blocked shots, 15 defensive rebounds and one steal. 
 
Against CMU, Wilson posted six defensive rebounds (nine total), one blocked shot and eight points. 
The following night in an overtime win at WSCU, he recorded two blocks, nine defensive rebounds (10 total) and a steal to go with 15 points.
 
In the two wins, Wilson averaged 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 7.5 defensive rebounds and 1.5 blocks.
 
Rasmus Bach is 105 points away from eclipsing the 1,000 point mark.  Senior guard Will Morse is ninth on the all-time assists leaderboard with 287, and he is 222 points away from reaching the 1,000 point milestone.
 
FLC leads the league and is ranked in the top 10 of NCAA Division II in multiple categories. The Skyhawks lead the league and are fourth in Division II in three-point field goals percentage (46.4 percent) and assist to turnover ratio (1.67), fifth in the nation in scoring margin (22.6 points) and scoring offense (97.3), sixth in Division II in assists (195), seventh in free throw made (216), free throw percentage (78.3) and three-point field goals per game (11.5), and eighth in total three-point field goals (115).
 
Morse leads the league in assist/turnover margin (4.46), assists per game (5.8), three-point field goal percentage (52.0) and total assists (58). 
 
Senior guard Joshua Blaylock leads the RMAC in three-point field goals per game (3.50) and total made three-point field goals (35).
 
SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
Adams State University is in a four-way tie for sixth place in the league standings with a 2-2 RMAC record.  The Grizzlies are 5-5 on the year and are 5-2 in their last seven games.
 
ASU edges their opponents in points per game, outscoring them 0.7 points per game.  They lead all RMAC teams with most free throws attempted (281) and turnovers forced (17.8 per game).
 
Brandon Sly leads five Grizzlies in double figure scoring with 15.5 points per game.  Brandon Pasker boasts an 11.1 scoring average and a team high 7.3 rebounds per game.
 
SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS
Westminster College owns a 3-3 overall record and are tied with three teams for third place in the league standings with a 3-1 record.  WC played their first road games of the season this past weekend, and will continue their four game road swing at Adams State University on Friday and at FLC on Saturday.
 
The Griffins are led by Dayon Goodman with 16.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
 
UP NEXT
FLC will return from the Christmas break to play four straight road games, beginning Dec. 30-31 at Chadron State and Regis.
