The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team will travel up the Western Slope this weekend to face Colorado Mesa University on Friday at 5:30 p.m., and Western State Colorado University on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The Skyhawks suffered their first loss of the season Friday night to Colorado State-Pueblo, 79-56. The Pack were ranked No. 12 in the WBCA Division II poll, and are now ranked No. 9 in the latest poll.

FLC bounced back Saturday night to even their conference record at 1-1 with a decisive 79-48 win over New Mexico Highlands.

FLC opened the first stanza with a 22-6 lead after making 7-of-17 field goals while holding the Cowgirls to only three field goals on 17 attempts. The Skyhawks took a 35-15 lead at the half and finished the game outscoring NMHU 44-33 in the second half.

Briana Clah led all scorers with 19 points. She hit 8-of-9 free throws and dished out a game high six dimes while grabbing five rebounds. Â
Alyssa Yocky led both teams with eight rebounds and added 12 points, two blocks and three assists.
Ande Lampert was responsible for four of the Skyhawks nine blocks. She added eight points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Kayla Herrera came off the bench to round out three Skyhawks in double digit scoring with 11 points. Herrera tallied six rebounds, three assists and a steal.

The Skyhawks outscored NMHU in the paint (26-16), off of turnovers (28-12), and bench points (25-8).

FLC leads all NCAA Division II schools in defensive rebounds per game (34). Fort Lewis leads the league in three-point field goal defense (23.4 percent), and field goal percentage defense (32.8). The Skyhawks are second in the RMAC in assist-turnover radio (1.01), assists per game (16.2) and fewest fouls (92), and they have the third most blocked shots per game (4.0), and the third best scoring margin (23.4).

Ande Lampert leads the Skyhawks defensive effort with 1.33 blocked shots per game, seven defensive rebounds per game and 7.2 total rebounds per game. Guard Brianna Clah is averaging the third most assists in the league with 4.5 per game. She leads the Skyhawks at the charity stripe with most attempts (33), most free throws made (28) and free throw percentage (84.8 percent).

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
Colorado Mesa University is currently on a four game winning streak, including two RMAC wins last week over Western State and Westminster. CMU is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in RMAC games, and they are 2-0 at home.

CMU leads the league in fewest turnovers (80), offensive rebounds per game (16), rebounding margin (12.7) and scoring margin (16.5).

Bryanna Adams is the lone Maverick to average double digits in scoring. Adams is scoring 14.8 points per game behind a league best three-point field percentage (48.4 percent, 15-of-31). Adams is also the top rebounder for CMU with 5.8 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
Western State Colorado University has started the 2016-17 season with a 1-5 overall record and a 0-2 start to the conference season after dropping games to Colorado Mesa University and Westminster College. The Mountaineers lone win of the season came on Nov. 26 against Bethany College.

WSCU is scoring 51 points per game and allowed 62.3 points per game. Harlie Williams leads the offense with 10.2 points per game and has a team high 33 rebounds. She also leads the team in made three-point field goals with 17.
