Quick HitsThe Fort Lewis College softball team opened their home season this past weekend with six games against Colorado Mesa University (two doubleheaders) and a non-conference doubleheader against #2 Dixie State University on Monday.

All six games were played at the Aztec Sports Complex in Aztec, N.M. Four of the six games were five innings long.

As a team, the Skyhawks recorded multiple season highs this past weekend. In the series finale against Colorado Mesa on Sunday, FLC posted season highs in runs (11), runs batted in (11), home runs (3), total bases (17), and walks (eight).

Individually,
Angelique Elemen,
Adriana Rosthenhausler,
Tristen Gilbert and
Nikki Klepfer notched season highs. Elemen post five at bats against CMU on Saturday, and added three hits and six total bases on Sunday. Rosthenhausler tied Gilbert's game high for most doubles (two). Gilbert drew a season high three walks against the Mavericks on Sunday while Klepfer's glove accounted for a season high 10 putouts against the Red Storm on Monday.

The Skyhawks will travel to University of Colorado Colorado Springs this weekend for four RMAC games. UCCS enters the weekend 5-4 overall and 2-2 in league games.

The Mountain Lions lead the league in pitching with a 2.98 earned run average, and they league the league in fielding, with a .969 fielding percentage. UCCS is under the direction of first year head coach Ricki Rothbauer.
