The Fort Lewis College softball team will open their 2016 season with five games in St. George, Utah at the Dixie State University Invitational. Four of the five games this weekend will be against nationally ranked opponents.

FLC will start the season on Friday against No. 22 West Texas A&M. On Saturday, the Skyhawks will face RMAC opponent Colorado State-Pueblo, followed by No. 13 Humboldt State. Fort Lewis will wrap up the weekend with two games on Sunday against No. 22 West Texas A&M, and host school No. 2 Dixie State University.

Elle Fracker. Fracker joined the Skyhawks program on Aug. 15, 2015.Â

Fort Lewis returns 14 letterwinners and eight starters from last year's 16-31 team. The Skyhawks finished the 2015 season in 11th place in the RMAC standings with a 14-22 league record.

The Skyhawks were picked 12th overall in the 2016 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Softball preseason coaches' poll with 35 points.

Senior outfielder
Missy Fundora was voted to the 2016 All-RMAC preseason team. The 2015 RMAC Softball Academic Player of the Year and an All-RMAC First Team selection, Fundora started all 43 games she played in last year. She collected 61 hits on 149 at-bats for a .409 batting average. Fundora added 17 doubles, three home runs and a triple while drawing 14 walks and stealing six bases.
