Skyhawks Fall Short in Championship Game; Two Named to All-Tournament Team

Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. – March 5, 2016 – After upsetting No. 1 seed Colorado School of Mines on Tuesday and fifth seed UCCS on Friday, the Fort Lewis College women's basketball team fell short Saturday night in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship game at Colorado State University-Pueblo.  Eighth seed FLC lost to second seed and host school CSU-Pueblo, 72-61.
 
Senior Kate Bayes and junior Astrea Reed were named to the 2016 RMAC Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team.
 
Fort Lewis (19-11) was within three points of the ThunderWolves with 3:47 remaining in regulation, 58-55, but CSU-Pueblo closed out the game on a 14-3 run to seal the win.
 
Kate Bayes led the Skyhawks with 14 points and five rebounds.  Astrea Reed added 13 points, four rebounds and an assist.
 
FLC made 22-of-64 field goals and 6-of-22 from three-point range.
 
Saturday's game was the third time the two teams met each other this season; the Pack won all three games.
 
The Skyhawks close their season with a 19-11 overall record.
