NOTES
The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team wrapped up the non-conference portion of the regular season with a 1-2-1 record.  The Skyhawks scored two goals in four games and allowed two goals.  Shayla Malecki found the back of the net twice to record both goals this season (W, 2-0 at Eastern New Mexico).  Britt Blomso has seen action in all four games between the posts, allowing two goals, making 13 saves and shutting out two opponents.

THIS WEEK
The Skyhawks will play their first home games of the season this weekend after starting the season with four games on the road.  This weekend's games will also mark the opener for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season.  FLC will play host to Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday, followed by New Mexico Highlands University on Sunday.

THE SERIES
Friday's game will be the 42nd meeting between FLC and CSUP.  The Skyhawks own a 21-14-6 series lead over the Pack, and are 10-6-2 all-time against CSUP on Dirks Field.  FLC is 7-0-1 in their last eight meetings with the ThunderWolves and are currently on a two game winning streak.

Despite having lost the last two meetings with New Mexico Highlands, the Skyhawks are 28-5-5 overall against NMHU and 15-1-2 at home.  The last time FLC faced the Cowgirls at home was Sept. 21, 2014 (W, 1-0).  The last three meetings have been played at NMHU.

SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES
Colorado State-Pueblo enters the weekend 3-1 overall.  After dropping their first match of the season, the ThunderWolves shutout their next three opponents: Midwestern State (2-0), Emporia State (1-0) and Eastern New Mexico (2-0).  All four of the Pack's games this season have been at home.

CSUP is led by Sandra Grimaldo and Laikyn Koss who have scored two goals each.  Alison Darr has played the last three games in goal, recording three straight shutouts.

SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
New Mexico Highlands University did not chart a win in the pre-season.  The Cowgirls have lost to St. Edward's (5-0), West Texas A&M (3-1) and Angelo State (2-0), and have tied Midwestern State for a 0-3-1 mark.  NMHU has been outscored 10-1, and outshot 81-23.

LAST TIME OUT
The Skyhawks came close to shutting out both opponents last week in Texas.  FLC and Angelo State played to a 0-0 double overtime draw Friday night, before FLC fell 1-0 at Midwestern State on Sunday.  The lone goal scored against the Skyhawks was a penalty kick goal.

2015 WRAPUP
The Skyhawks finished the 2015 season with a double overtime 0-0 tie against St. Edward's University in San Angelo, Texas in the NCAA Women's Soccer South Central Region First Round game.  SEU advanced to the second round on penalty kicks.  Last year's NCAA tournament berth was the sixth time in program history FLC competed in the NCAA post-season.

MEET THE TEAM
FLC returns eight starters from last year's NCAA qualifying team (Alicia Sanchez, Shayla Malecki, Courtney Riley, Carolyn Archer, Haleigh Macomb, Keisha Green, Andra Thaden and Dayli Schmieder).  Starters Brooke Milliet, Jordan Hix and Caitlyn Espinosa are not returning after graduating last year.

PRESEAON HONORS
After finishing second overall in the 2015 regular season standings, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team is picked to finish second in the 2016 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason poll. The Skyhawks earned 128 points behind the league favorite Colorado School of Mines.  FLC also received votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll.  The Skyhawks finished the 2015 season second in the league with an 8-2-1 league record (12-5-4).

PROVEN COACH
Head coach Jimmy Hall is in his third year leading the Skyhawks women's soccer program.  In only his second year as head coach, Hall was named the RMAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.  In three years, Hall has notched an overall record of 18-13-9 and a league mark of 15-7-5.  Hall returned to his alma mater as assistant women's soccer coach in 2011 and is in his sixth year with the women's program. The former Skyhawk soccer standout has deep roots in the Durango soccer community and coaching experience at the collegiate, high school and club levels.

ON THE AIR
The legendary voice of the Skyhawks, John Mahoney, returns for his 12th season calling Skyhawks soccer games on the air.  Mahoney will be reunited with Phil Duke who is returning after a seven year hiatus.  Mahoney and Duke will call all Skyhawks men's and women's soccer home games.  Fans can watch all home soccer games for free on Stretch Internet and listen to Mahoney and Duke via the free video stream and on the air at KIUP AM 930, 97.3 FM and www.radiodurango.com.

LOOKING AHEAD
After this weekend, the Skyhawks will hit the road for four straight games, beginning Sept. 23 at Regis and Sept. 25 at MSU Denver.
