UPCOMING GAMES
The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team looks to extend their 30-game home winning streak against No. 22 Colorado School of Mines on Friday, Feb. 17
th. The game is the Skyhawks lone game of the weekend. It is also the only meeting between the two teams during the regular season.
Fans are encouraged to wear white to the game and the first 2,000 fans will receive a free Skyhawks t-shirt, sponsored by Durango Motor Company. The game will broadcast on Altitude 2 and Comcast Entertainment (CET). Tip-off is at approximately at 7:30 p.m.
NOTES
The Skyhawks enter the weekend first in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a 17-2 record (22-3 overall).
A win on Friday would clinch the RMAC regular season title for the Skyhawks.
FLC's 22-3 start is the second time in program history they won 22 of their first 25 games (2015-16).
After being ranked No. 12 in the National Association Basketball Coaches Division II poll, the Skyhawks move up in the poll this week. FLC received 244 points and are now ranked No. 11 in Division II, which is the highest ranking all season.
The Skyhawks own the fifth longest active home winning streak in Division II, winning 30 consecutive home games. They trail only Kentucky Wesleyan (43), Bellarmine (38), Northwest Missouri State (32), and West Liberty (31).
Fort Lewis extended their winning streak to 10 games this past weekend with a home sweep against Western State Colorado University (95-70) and Colorado Mesa University (90-71).
Brandon Wilson's performance this past weekend earned him the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Wilson averaged a double-double with 17.5 points and 11 rebounds per game in the wins against the Mountaineers and Mavericks. It is Wilson's fourth RMAC Player of the Week award this season. His first three awards were for the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Rasmus Bach led the Skyhawks in scoring with 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting against Western State.
Will Morse recorded his first career double-double notching 11 points and 10 assists. Wilson scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting while snatching eight rebounds.
In Saturday's win against Colorado Mesa, Wilson recorded his fourth double-double on the season after scoring a career high in points (20) and matching a career high in rebounds (14) to lead the way for Fort Lewis.
Joshua Blaylock and Bach also added 18 points each.
The Skyhawks boast two of the top five scorers in the RMAC. Blaylock is third in the league with 19.1 points per game followed by
Rasmus Bach's 18.9 points per game, which is fifth best in the RMAC.
Blaylock ranks second in the league in three-point field goals made (77) while shooting 46.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Morse is leading the league in assists with 135 (5.4 average) and a 3.4 assist/turnover ratio (135/40).
Alex Semadeni leads the league in field goal percentage shooting 71.7 percent from the field.
The Skyhawks have the league's best scoring offense (90.7 per game), scoring margin (16.2 points per game), field goal percentage (53.0 percent), three-point field goal percentage (43.0 percent), and assists (17.7 average). Fort Lewis' 53.0 percent field goal percentage is the second best mark in Division II.
SCOUTING THE OREDIGGERS
Colorado School of Mines owns a 15-3 RMAC record, which is second in the league standings. The Orediggers are 20-4 overall and 9-3 in road games this season.
The Orediggers are led in scoring by Gokul Natesan (19.2 points per game), which leads the RMAC. Natesan also leads the league in steals (1.8 per game). Ben Clare is second in the league in field goal percentage sh0oting 65.8 percent from the field. Luke Schroepfer is third in the league in three-point field goal percentage shooting 47.8 percent from behind the arc.
CSM leads the league in scoring defense (64.7 per game), three-point field goal defense (32.2 percent), and rebounding margin (plus 6.6 per game). The Orediggers are second in the RMAC in three-point field goal percentage (40.3 percent), assists (16.2 per game), and scoring margin (plus 13.8 per game).
