TUCSON, Ariz. – February 19, 2017 – The Fort Lewis College softball team fell to Lubbock Christian University Sunday morning in Tucson, Ariz., 8-2. The loss sets the Skyhawks record to 1-8 overall. The Chaps improve to 14-2 on the year.
The Skyhawks took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when
Tristen Gilbert doubled to left field to score
Mandy Owens.
LCU took their first lead of the game in the fourth inning when they scored three runs on four hits.
The Chaps added five more runs in the next three innings to take an 8-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Catie McKinney cut into the Chaps lead when she crossed home plate on
Lauren Caldwell's hit, but FLC fell short, 8-2.
Tehenia Telliano recorded three hits for the Skyhawks after she went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Kelly Decker suffered the loss in the circle after allowing seven earned runs on nine hits in six innings.
The Skyhawks will open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Feb. 25-26 at Colorado School of Mines.
