The Fort Lewis College softball team will open the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season this Saturday and Sunday at Colorado School of Mines. The Skyhawks will start Saturday's doubleheader at 12 p.m. and Sunday's doubleheader at 11 a.m.
NOTES
FLC (1-8 overall, 0-0 RMAC) looks to snap a six game losing streak this weekend. The Skyhawks are coming off losses from the Cactus Classic in Tucson, Ariz. against Academy of Art (L, 8-5), Dixie State University (L, 18-16), Lincoln Memorial University (L, 8-2) and Lubbock Christian University (L, 8-2). FLC was slated to play a fifth game in Tucson, Ariz. but the game was rained out.
Angelique Elemen led the Skyhawks offense with seven runs batted in, six hits and 13 total bases.
Adriana Rosthenhausler scored a team high four runs at the Cactus Classic.
Madison Stanich pitched 11 innings in two games this past weekend, posting an earned run average of 3.82. She fanned nine batters and surrendered 19 hits.
Elemen leads the conference in runs batted in with 17. She is also tied for the second most home runs this season with three.
Gianna Melaragno has the second most runs (13) and triples (two) in the conference.
As a team, the Skyhawks are fifth in the league in batting average (.292). The Skyhawks have collected 74 hits on 253 at-bats. Twenty-four of the Skyhawks 74 hits have been extra-base hits.
SCOUTING THE OREDIGGERS
Colorado School of Mines will open their home season this weekend. After losing their first three games of the season, CSM has won their last three games to even their record at 3-3.
The Orediggers boast the best earned run average in the league with a 2.93. In six games CSM has allowed 14 earned runs on 36 hits and fanned 20 batters.
Claire Stringfellow leads the RMAC in pitching with a 1.31 ERA. Katie Leiker has a team best .421 batting average (8-of-19).

FLC will head back to the Front Range next week, March 3-4, to face Colorado Christian University.
