Skyhawks Start Four Game Home Stand

UPCOMING GAMES
The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team looks to extend their 28-game home winning streak against Western State Colorado University and Colorado Mesa University on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11. Tip-off will be approximately at 7:30 p.m. for both games.
 
NOTES
The Skyhawks enter the weekend first in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a 15-2 record (20-3 overall).
 
FLC's 20-3 start is the second time in program history they won 20 of their first 23 games (2015-16).
 
After being ranked No. 14 in the National Association Basketball Coaches Division II poll, the Skyhawks move up in the poll this week. FLC received 218 points and are now ranked No. 12 in Division II, which is the highest ranking all season.
 
The Skyhawks own the sixth longest active home winning streak in Division II, winning 28 consecutive home games. They trail only Kentucky Wesleyan (43), Bellarmine (38), Barry (32), West Liberty (31), and Northwest Missouri State (30).
 
Fort Lewis extended their winning streak to eight games this past weekend with two road wins against New Mexico Highlands University (99-77) and Colorado State University–Pueblo (84-75).
 
Daniel Hernandez scored a career high 19 points and made five three-point field goals off the bench against the Cowboys this past Friday. Joshua Blaylock matched Hernandez's scoring output (19 points) on 5-of-14 shooting from the floor. Brandon Wilson recorded his third double-double of the season with a 14-point, 12-rebound performance.
 
Alex Semadeni had a career game against the ThunderWolves on Saturday, tying a career high in points (15) and pulling down a career high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double. The 6-of-6 shooting from the field improved Semadeni's league leading field goal percentage to 72.6 percent. Blaylock led the team in scoring with 25 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field.
 
The Skyhawks boast two of the top four scorers in the RMAC. Blaylock leads the league with 19.3 points per game followed by Rasmus Bach's 18.7 points per game, which is tied for fourth best in the RMAC.
 
Blaylock ranks second in the league in three-point field goals made (71) and fourth in three-point field goal percentage (47.7 percent).
 
Will Morse is leading the league in assists with 116 (5.0 average) and a 3.5 assist/turnover ratio (116/33).
 
The Skyhawks have the league's best scoring offense (90.5 per game), scoring margin (plus 15.7 points per game), field goal percentage (53.1 percent), three-point field goal percentage (43.3 percent), and assists (17.3 average).
 
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
Western State Colorado University owns a 4-13 RMAC record, which is 13th in the league standings. The Cowboys are 5-16 overall and 2-7 in road games this season.
 
The Mountaineers are led in scoring by Ben Beauchamp (18.9 points per game), which is third in the RMAC. Will Duggan leads the team in assists averaging 3.8 per game.
 
WSCU is fourth in the RMAC in scoring offense (80.3 points per game) and assists (14.8 per game). The Mountaineers lead the league in free throw percentage shooting 78.6 percent as a team from the charity stripe.
 
SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
Colorado Mesa University has a 6-11 RMAC record, which is 11th in the standings. The Mavericks are 7-16 overall with a 1-8 road record this season.
 
Colorado Mesa is led in scoring by Eimer Lopez who is averaging 14.5 points per game. Brandon Hoffer is second in the league with a 2.9 assist/turnover ratio, trailing only Will Morse (3.5 ratio).
 
The Mavericks average 77.1 points per game this season which ranks ninth in the RMAC. The +2.2 turnover margin ranks second best in the league.

The Skyhawks will resume play at home against No. 25 Colorado School of Mines on Friday Feb. 17 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear white to the game and the first 2,000 fans will receive a free Skyhawks t-shirt, sponsored by Durango Motor Company.
