UPCOMING GAMES
The Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team will open their season on the road in Florida against Saint Leo University and the No. 5 Florida Southern College on March 5-6. The first game of the season on Sunday will be at 10 a.m. (MST) against Saint Leo and Monday's game will be at 9 a.m. (MST).
NOTES
The Skyhawks are led by third year coach
Julia Decker. Fort Lewis finished the 2016 season 8-6 with a conference mark of 4-3, which placed them fourth in RMAC regular season standings.
FLC received 54 points in the 2017 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, landing them in fourth place in the standings. Senior Defender
Megan Longtain was voted to the 2017 RMAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-RMAC and earned Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the year honors.
A native of West Linn, Oregon (West Linn High School), Longtain started all 14 games last season. As a junior, she led the team with 936 minutes played, collected 38 ground balls, and recorded 13 draw controls. She also caused 18 turnovers on the season.
Fort Lewis College returns five starters and 13 letter winners from last season's squad, while welcoming six freshman to the team.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
The Lions enter against the Skyhawks with a 2-1 record on the season. Saint Leo is led by senior attacker Caroline Fraser who has recorded 13 points on the season. Leslie Ferguson leads the team with 10 ground balls recovered.
SCOUTING THE MOCS
The Division II defending national champions, Florida Southern enters the match with a 4-2 record on the season and is ranked No. 5 in Division II. The Mocs are led by Meghan O'Brien who has recorded 22 points on the season. Dani Bursinger leads the team with 30 draw controls.
