Lacrosse Faces UCCS for First Time in Program History

UPCOMING GAMES
The Fort Lewis women's lacrosse team will play host the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on Thursday at 3 p.m.  It will be the first meeting between the two teams; this is UCCS' first year sponsoring women's lacrosse.
 
NOTES
The Skyhawks are fourth in the league standings with a 5-2 record.  FLC is 5-5 overall.
 
FLC won a pair of home games this week against Rockhurst University (10-5) and Adams State University (15-2).
 
Alyssa Spencer led the Skyhawks defense with 14 saves this past weekend. Spencer's .700 save percentage for the weekend helped her garner RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season.
 
Nikki Fry led the Skyhawks in goals and points this past weekend tallying six goals and eight points overall. Megan Longtain led the team with seven ground balls and eight caused turnovers.
 
Longtain leads the RMAC with 3.60 ground balls collected per game and is fourth in caused turnovers forcing 2.40 turnovers per game. Spencer is fifth in the conference in goals against average (8.68) and saves percentage (.462).
 
Fort Lewis is ranked second in the league collecting 251 ground balls this season. The Skyhawks average 9.90 goals per game and cause 9.8 turnovers per game.
 
 
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN LIONS
UCCS is 4-7 overall and 0-6 in the conference in their first season as a varsity sport.
 
The Mountain Lions average 8.82 goals per game this season and cause 8.5 turnovers per game. UCCS ranks fifth in the league in shot percentage (.445 percent).
 
Vanessa Nelson leads the Mountain Lions attack and is ranked sixth in the league with 2.73 goals per game. Nelson also leads her team with 33 points and 35 draw controls. Ellie O'Brien leads UCCS with 38 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers.
 
UP NEXT
FLC will travel to Denver, Colo. to play Regis University on April 22 in a RMAC match before heading back home to play their final regular season home game on April 23 against CSU-Pueblo in a non-conference game. Saturday's game will start at 12 p.m. while Sunday's game starts at 1 p.m.
