ThunderWolves Sweep Skyhawks Softball

DURANGO, Colo. – April 23, 2017 – Colorado State University-Pueblo completed the four game sweep against the Fort Lewis College softball team Sunday afternoon with an 11-3 and a 7-4 decision.  The games marked the final road games of the season for the Skyhawks who drop to 6-39 overall and 5-31 in league games. 
 
In game one on Sunday, the Skyhawks accounted for 10 hits.  Tristen Gilbert went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs batted.  Adriana Rosthenhausler, Allison Young and Lauren Caldwell each posted two hits in the five inning game.
 
Megan Redd pitched the first 2.2 innings in the circle, allowing two earned runs on six hits.  Caty Llamas pitched the final two innings, surrendering eight earned runs on five hits.
 
In game two, both teams were tied at 1-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before CSUP exploded for six runs in the fifth inning.  Four of the Pack's six hits in the inning were extra-base hits, including a three-run homerun. 
 
FLC cut into the Packs 7-1 lead in the sixth inning when Angelique Elemen hit a two-run homerun for her third dinger of the series and 15th on the season.  Tristen Gilbert followed with a single homerun, marking her seventh homer this season.
 
Gilbert recorded two of FLC's six hits.  Gilbert and Elemen drove in all four of the Skyhawks runs.
 
Olivia Goldberg started in the circle and worked 4.1 innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits.  Redd entered the game in relief, pitching the final 1.2 innings and allowed two runs on two hits.
 
The Skyhawks will play their final series of the season April 29-30 against Chadron State College in Aztec, N.M.
