Softball Games Moved to Sunday/Monday in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – With weather still in the forecast for today, the Fort Lewis College softball team moved their series against #22 Colorado Mesa to Sunday starting at noon and Monday at 11 a.m.

The teams will play a pair of doubleheaders on both days, set for 12/2 p.m. on Sunday and then 11 a.m./1 p.m. on Monday. The games will count as Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games and FLC will serve as the home team in all four games.

The Skyhawks are 5-8 overall, holding a .299 team batting average and opponents have a .280 batting average. In the circle, FLC has a 4.59 ERA and opponents have a 4.85 ERA.

Angelique Elemen is off to one of the best starts to the season in the country as the senior holds a .432 batting average, five doubles, eight home runs, 14 RBI and 48 total bases. She leads the nation in home runs and total bases. Elemen also leads the RMAC in hits (19), 24th nationally, home runs per game (0.62), fourth nationally, slugging percentage (1.091), 18th nationally. In addition she ranks second in the RMAC and 28th nationally in doubles, fourth in the RMAC and 37th in RBI and sixth in the RMAC and 74th nationally in runs per game (1.15).

McKenna Hefley is second on the team in batting average at .357 along with two home runs and seven RBI. Pilar Gutierrez adds a .316 batting average with a home run and three RBI. Allison Young has a .298 batting average with seven runs driven in while Taylor Hollestelle is second on the team in both home runs (3) and RBI (9), along with a .292 batting average.

Hollestelle ranks third in the RMAC and 33rd nationally in home runs, seventh in the RMAC and 74th nationally in total bases (25) and eighth in the RMAC in home runs per game (0.23). McKenna Hefley is ninth in the RMAC and 89th nationally in home runs.

In the circle Emily Morris leads the way with two wins and a 3.13 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched. She's posted 17 strikeouts to just four walks. Kassidy Trumbo has a 3.61 ERA along with a win in 21.1 innings worked. Kelly Decker has tossed the most innings this season at 23.2.

Morris ranks first in the RMAC and 62nd nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.25) and is third in the RMAC and 89th nationally in walks allowed per seven innings (1.25).

As a team, FLC ranks second in the RMAC and 16th nationally in home runs per game (1.23), fifth in the RMAC and 82nd nationally in scoring (5.38), fifth in the RMAC and 52nd nationally in slugging percentage (0.474) and 79th nationally in batting average (.299).

Colorado Mesa is off to a 7-3 start going 4-1 at the Dixie State Courtyard Classic and 3-2 at the Cactus Classic. The Mavericks have a .344 batting average while opponents have a .232 average. Kellie Mrofcza leads the way with a .467 average and eight RBI, followed by a .381 average by Sarah Staudle. Brooke Doumer and Kaila Jacobi each have hit three home runs and Jacobi has driven in 14 runs.

In the circle, Colorado Mesa has a 2.68 ERA and opponents have a 7.08 ERA. Shea Mauser has a 0.00 ERA in nine innings worked, while Kimbri Herring leads the team in wins with three and a 3.50 ERA in 22 innings. Paige Adair has tossed 30 innings and has two wins with a 3.03 ERA.
