Softball Travels to New Mexico to Face Cowgirls in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The second to last road trip of the regular season awaits the Fort Lewis College softball team this weekend when they will travel to New Mexico to face New Mexico Highlands with a pair of doubleheaders starting at noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

FLC (10-27, 5-19 RMAC) enters the week just a few games back of Regis in seventh at 8-11 and Black Hills State in eighth at 6-11. With all the teams not playing the exact number of games, conference win percentage points will be used to decide who ends up making it into the tournament. Right now, Regis has a .421 winning percentage and Black Hills State is at .353. Chadron State sits just percentage points behind at 7-16 (.304), New Mexico Highlands is next at 5-12 (.294), Adams State checks in with a 6-15 mark (.286) and CSU-Pueblo is just ahead of FLC at 5-17 (.227). After facing a pair of tough pitchers from Colorado School of Mines, the Skyhawks nearly defeated the Mountain Lions for a second time over the weekend before a late rally gave UCCS the 9-5 win.
