DURANGO, Colo. – Last week an eighth-place finish in Pueblo, Colo., left the Skyhawks hungry for more. This week the Fort Lewis College women's golf team will seek to score even higher, this time hosting the Nick Turner Invitational on the Arroyo Del Oso golf course in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Oct. 17 and 18.

This tournament will mark the second straight year the Skyhawks have hosted on the Arroyo Del Oso golf course.

"The girls played well here last year," coach Jim Foltz said. "It's our last tournament of the fall, I think these girls will compete and finish strong before we take our winter break."

Arroyo Del Oso features 6,086 yards of championship golf from the mixed tees featuring a par of 72. In 1981, Golf Digest Magazine rated Arroyo Del Oso in the top 50 municipal courses in the nation.

The field of competition will feature programs such as Arkansas-Fort Smith, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Colorado Mesa, Adams State, Western New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, Odessa College, California State East Bay, California State Los Angeles, California State San Marcos, Regis, Saint Mary's (Texas), University of Texas at Tyler, and Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Monday morning is predicted to have a high of 56 degrees featuring nearly a 50% chance of morning showers. Tuesday should warm up to around 66 degrees, featuring clear skies and sunshine for the final round.

Last Time Out
Fort Lewis is coming off of an eighth-place finish at the Farmers Insurance Sam Proal Invitational hosted by Colorado State University Pueblo at the Pueblo Country Club. Emma Tornroos led the Skyhawks in individual standings, taking seventh after shooting 155 (75, 80, +11) across both rounds.

As a team, Fort Lewis shot a 655 (322, 333) to finish seventy-nine strokes above par.

End of the Fall
The Nick Turner Invitational will mark the end of the fall season for the women's golf team. The Skyhawks will jump back into action in the spring for its championship season.
