Women’s golf caps regular season with RJGA Palm Valley Classic, WT Desert Invitational

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis women's golf team is set to close out the regular-season portion of its 2025-26 schedule this weekend as the Skyhawks first take on the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club Apr. 3-4, before heading south for the West Texas A&M Desert Invitational at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon Apr. 6-7.
 
This year's RJGA Palm Valley Classic marks the sixth-straight for the Skyhawks, who most recently took 19th at last year's event, shooting a combined 627 (+51) in two rounds. Dimery Plewe, who is also competing this week, led the team last season, taking T-53rd on a 154 (+10). Joining Plewe this season at Palm Valley's 6,045-yard par 72 course are Peyton Gibby, Sarah Grenemyer, Isabel Bustillos, and Ellie White. Palm Valley features three nine-hole courses that can be interchanged to provide three separate 18-hole layouts.
 
Palm Valley features a loaded field with 27 teams, including nine program's ranked on the SCOREBORAD top 50 such as No. 47 Hawai'i Pacific University, No. 43 University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, No. 37 California State University, Los Angeles, No. 36 Simon Fraser University, No. 31 Colorado State University Pueblo, No. 30 West Texas A&M University, No. 28 Point Loma Nazarene University, No. 11 Cal State San Marcos, and No. 5 University of Texas at Tyler.
 
Fort Lewis will then make its first appearance at the WT Desert Invitational, up against 14 teams, including top-ranked West Texas A&M, CSU Pueblo, Hawai'i Pacific, and No. 50 Texas A&M International University, No. 48 Henderson State University, and No. 41 Cal State, Monterey Bay.
 
The Lodge at Ventana Canyon, voted Best Golf Resort in Arizona by Golfweek Magazine, features two 18-hole championship courses: the Mountain Course and Canyon Course. The Canyon Course stretches out as far as 6,836 yards from the black tees with a rating of 72.1 and a slope of 137, while the Mountain Course provides a slightly more challenging 6,898 yards with a 72.9 rating and a slope of 141.
 
Looking Ahead
Following the back-to-back tournaments, the Skyhawks will look ahead and prepare for the 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., Apr. 19-21.
