RMAC Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. —
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) released the women's lacrosse All-Academic teams on Monday, with 10 total Fort Lewis College student-athletes earning academic honors, highlighted by First Team All-Academic recognition for Averi Basso and Rebecca Kiyokawa.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters. First Team All-Academic members were voted on by the conference's sports information directors for meeting those criteria as well as demonstrating outstanding performance on the field.

All student-athletes that meet those requirements, but were not named First Team, automatically qualify for Honor Roll.

Junior goalkeeper Averi Basso garnered First Team All-Academic recognition after posting a 3.95 GPA as a Psychology major.

On the field, Basso has put together another highlight season between the pipes. The Lake Oswego, Oregon native surpassed 200 career saves on April 8 at home and has 265 career saves to her credit to rank second in school history. Basso ranks second in the conference in saves per game at 10.27 and was an All-Academic Honor Roll recipient last season.

Redshirt sophomore Rebecca Kiyokawa earned First Team All-Academic recognition after posting a 3.97 GPA as a Psychology major.

Kiyokawa has shined all season long on the defensive end of the field, leading the Skyhawks with 38 groundballs, 22 caused turnovers, and ranks second on the roster with 31 draw controls. As the team looks ahead to the RMAC Tournament, Kiyokawa ranks in the top-10 in program history in single-season ground balls (38), just three shy of her third-place rank from a season ago (41). Additionally, she leads all players in the league with 2.53 groundballs per game.

The Skyhawks also placed eight student-athletes on the All-Academic Honor Roll in senior Jillian Byron, Maren Clark, and Kylee Cosse, juniors Liv Crawford and Makena Carter, and sophomores Caprietta Abbadessa, Alyssa Strough, and Kaylin Vanzant.
Byron, a defender from Eagle, Colorado, has played in 12 games while starting in nine for the blue and gold. She has compiled three groundballs and one caused turnover on the year. She boasts a 3.95 GPA while studying Sport Administration.
