La Rose tabbed with RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Tallying seven blocks and setting a pair of single-game career-highs last weekend, Fort Lewis College men's basketball senior center Brendan La Rose was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

The honor is the first of La Rose's career and the third for a Skyhawk this season. Additionally, it is the first defensive weekly honor held by a Skyhawk since the week of Mar. 4, 2019 (Marquel Beasley).

La Rose, a native of Falcon, Colorado, is a fifth-year senior out of Falcon High School. After making plenty of appearances in his previous four seasons, La Rose has started every game for Fort Lewis (14) thus far this year.

In Friday's 77-69 win over the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, La Rose supplied a quiet three points and three rebounds while also matching his previous career-high with three blocks in the contest.

On Saturday Fort Lewis topped Regis University 75-62 while La Rose one-upped himself once more. Scoring eight points and grabbing eight boards, one rebound shy of his career-high (9), La Rose posted new career-highs in minutes played (27) and blocked shots (4).

Overall, La Rose grabbed 11 rebounds and made seven blocks across the weekend while also providing 11 points, one steal, and one assist to help Fort Lewis win its third-straight game and sixth-straight game in Whalen Gymnasium.

La Rose and the Skyhawks are back in action this weekend with a pair of RMAC games on the road at Chadron State (8-7, 5-4 RMAC) and Colorado Christian (6-9, 2-7 RMAC). First up is a Friday night slate against the Eagles at Chadron State on Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m. Next, the Skyhawks will take on the Cougars at Colorado Christian on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 7:00 p.m.
