Mavericks spoil Skyhawks homecoming

DURANGO, Colo. – The Skyhawks offense began to get back on track this week with 319 yards of total offense, but it wasn't enough to halt the stampeding Mavericks as the Colorado Mesa University football team (3-4, 2-3 RMAC) defeated Fort Lewis College (0-7, 0-5 RMAC) 62-14 in front of a crowd of 2,247 on Ray Dennison Memorial Field.

"Mesa is a good team, and they did a great job today executing on offense and defense," head coach Johnny Cox commented. "They really took it to us right off the bat and we couldn't establish anything. In the second half, our guys just played better, harder, and had more belief. It's another loss that we need to learn from, but I'm proud of the guy's effort, energy, and the way they were cheering on their teammates throughout the finish of the game."
