No. 10 Skyhawks fall to No. 16 ThunderWolves in RMAC Tournament Championship, four Skyhawks earn All-Tournament Team nods

DURANGO, Colo. – Despite leading in both shots and shots on goal, a combination of missed opportunities and a solo two-goal performance from the opposition resulted in the tenth-ranked Fort Lewis men's soccer team (11-4-4) dropping the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Championship by a 2-0 decision to sixteenth ranked Colorado State University Pueblo (15-4-2) on Dirks Field Friday night.

Fort Lewis fired off 14 shots to CSU Pueblo's five while also placing seven shots on frame to the Pack's four. In addition, both sides took half of their total shots in each half. The Pack also held the edge in corner kicks six-to-five. Anton Hjalmarsson was the only Skyhawks to place two shots between the posts.

CSU Pueblo freshman goalkeeper Ryan Nun had a phenomenal performance in goal. In just his fourth career match, Nun racked up seven total saves – including a handful of back-to-back saves on consecutive shots – to post his fourth-straight shutout.

Gabriel Campora found the first of his two goals in the 18th minute on a corner kick from the far side. Caio Oliveira provided the set piece, Ignatius DeMark a header from the middle of the box to the far post, and Campora a second header into the back of the net.

In the second half, momentum began to fall to Fort Lewis as the Skyhawks maintained over 40.0 percent of its possession inside the ThunderWolves defensive half.

In the 76th minute, however, Shjon Andrews attempted to clear the ball from just above the CSUP penalty box. As the towering kick sailed across the field, Campora out-ran the Skyhawks' defense and found just a big enough opening at the top of the box to strike for his second goal and seal the match.
