DURANGO, Colo. – Following adverse weather in the four corners area, the Fort Lewis College softball team (3-6 overall, 1-3 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) will host Colorado School of Mines (5-5, 4-0 RMAC) for a four-game RMAC series at Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, New Mexico, this Sunday, and Monday.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend the Skyhawks kicked off its RMAC campaign at Colorado Mesa University (5-7, 3-1 RMAC). The Mavericks went on to win games one and two in dominant fashion while the Skyhawks bounced back on day two to force a closer decision. Mesa had an offensive showcase on day one, outhitting the Skyhawks 22-9 in route to a pair of 11-4 and 10-2 (Five innings) victories.

On day two, Fort Lewis' pitching began to hit its spot while the offense offered support. The Mavs wound up walking-off game one 4-3 thanks to a hit-by-pitch. In game two, both sides fought through three lead changes that gave Mesa a 4-3 advantage heading into the seventh inning. With two outs and a full count at the plate, Kayla Stone sent a deep drive into the center field bleachers for a two-run home run that recaptured the lead for Fort Lewis. The Skyhawks held on in game two, downing Mesa 6-4 to avoid the sweep and break a 29-game winning streak for the Mavericks.

SCOUTING THE OREDIGGERS
Colorado School of Mines got off to a slow start in its non-conference schedule, going just 1-5 in its six games against Palm Beach Atlantic (5-8, 0-4 SSC), Barry (11-6, 2-2 SSC), and (RV) Nova Southeastern (10-4, 3-1 SSC). The Orediggers lone win of the non-conference series came against Nova Southeastern, 3-2. In its home and conference opener last weekend against Black Hills State (0-4, 0-4 RMAC), Mines swept the Yellow Jackets in succession, 8-0 (Five inn.), 12-6, 4-3, 6-4.

Sadriena Rodriguez has racked up the most innings in the circle for Mines, throwing 24.2 innings thus far and gathering a 1.42 earned run average (ERA). A five-foot-three senior from Imperial, California, Rodriguez has allowed only 12 hits, five earned runs, and five walks with 29 strikeouts. While Rodriguez leads the Orediggers overall, Lauren Decker awaits in the bullpen. Decker, a five-foot-two senior from Hood River, Oregon, leads the RMAC in ERA with a 0.58 through 12.0 innings pitched. Decker has allowed five runs – only one of which was earned – on eight hits and four balls with five strikeouts.

At the plate, Mines boasts nine individuals batting .300 or above. Sidney Wilson leads the offensive brigade with a .405 average with 15 hits and seven runs through a team-leading 37 at-bats. Additionally, Wilson is tied with Sara Larson to lead the Orediggers with eight home runs thus far. As a unit on defense, Mines owns a .965 fielding percentage with just 10 errors on the season.
