Skyhawks slated to host ThunderWolves in New Mexico

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College softball team is gearing up to host Colorado State University-Pueblo for another four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference home series at Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, N.M., this Saturday, and Sunday.

The Skyhawks will play host at Bloomfield High School for its second-straight home series. Bloomfield High School's address is 520 N 1st St, Bloomfield, NM 87413. To reach the softball complex, continue south past Bloomfield High School on N 1st St. and take a left on E Pine Ave to reach the back of the school.

LAST TIME OUT
Fort Lewis heads into the weekend series with a 6-13 overall record and a 4-8 mark in RMAC play. Last weekend the Skyhawks dropped a four-game series 3-1 at Chadron State College (7-12, 4-8 RMAC). Hot-hitting led Fort Lewis to a game-one win 7-6, but the home Eagles found the edge in each of the remaining games. Catheryn Rodman had one of the strongest bats for FLC in the series, finishing the weekend 5-11 at the plate with five runs and five runs batted in. In the circle, Caydee Farnworth earned the win in game one after through 4.0 innings and allowed just one earned run on four hits, three walks, and four strikeouts.

SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES
CSU Pueblo enters the weekend with an identical 6-13 record to Fort Lewis, but a 1-11 record in RMAC games. The ThunderWolves will be eager to down Fort Lewis as the Pack is riding an 11-game losing streak, five losses of which have come by way of the run rule.

The ThunderWolves were hot to start the season, downing Western New Mexico University 12-3, the University of Texas Permian Basin 14-3, and Simon Fraser University 9-8 at the same South-Central Regional Challenge as the Skyhawks down in Los Lunas, N.M. Since then, the lone conference win on The Pack's schedule was a 3-1 decision over Regis University in its RMAC home opener back on Feb. 18.

At the plate, Ashley Tosh leads The pack with a .410 batting average and .500 on-base percentage. When it comes to slugging, however, the ThunderWolves turn to freshman Marissa Robertson. Robertson, a native of Rocklin, Calif., is hitting .364 at the plate with six doubles and two home runs. While Tosh and Robertson get it done at the plate,
Raelynn Rogers has been CSU Pueblo's speed on the base paths. Rogers, a sophomore from Surprise, Ariz., is 11-12 on stolen bases this season. In the circle stands sophomore Lucy Carney for The Pack. Carney has amassed a 5.15 earned run average across her 34.0 innings pitched.

LOOKING AHEAD
It's no surprise that next weekend the Skyhawks are back on the road to take on a four-game conference series. Fort Lewis will head northeast to Denver, Colo., to battle it out with the Rangers at Regis University (12-10, 9-3 RMAC). Doubleheaders will be played on Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 18-19.
