Gutierrez notches best performance for the Skyhawks at The Pack Classic

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College women's golf team took home a 12^th-place finish as a team while Kendal Gutierrez had the highest overall finish for the Skyhawks in a tie for 40^th at The Pack Classic at Walking Stick Golf Course.

Colorado Christian University captured the team title, edging out the home-host Colorado State University-Pueblo with a 598 as a team and finishing 22 strokes above par. On the individual side, CSU Pueblo's Minna Archer and Kylie Severin shared the first-place title with an identical 146 (+2) on the cards.

Gutierrez led Fort Lewis with a tie for 40^th place with a 157 (+13) on the card while Emma Tornroos trailed just behind in a tie 44^th place with a 158 (+14).

ROUND ONE – 324, +36
Brooke Sturtevant carded the best performance among the Skyhawks in round one. Sturtevant opened the front nine with just one stroke over par after a pair of bogeys offset her birdie on hole five. On the back nine, however, bogeys piled on and Sturtevant finished round with a 78 (+6) on the card. Tornroos trailed closely behind with an 80 (+8) on her card, and Gutierrez was just another stroke behind with an 81 (+9).

ROUND TWO – 318, +30
Gutierrez showed out in round two, carding the best individual round of any Skyhawk across the tournament. Gutierrez was near par landing just four bogeys to finish with a 76 (+4). Tornroos trailed closely behind, finishing just two strokes behind Gutierrez with a 78 (+6) in her final round.

NEXT UP
Fort Lewis will now prepare for the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association Palm Valley Classic. Co-hosted by the RJGA and Western New Mexico University, the tournament will be held at the Palm Valley Golf Club from Mar. 31-Apr. 1.
