Poston captures Top 20 finish as Skyhawks take 6th at Southern Colorado Masters

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College men's golf team captured a sixth-place finish at the Southern Colorado Masters hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo at the Pueblo Country Club. Henry Poston tied for 18th as an individual in an all-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference field of competition.

Colorado Christian University's Adam Duncan, ranked 59th among all of Division II via Golfstat, won the individual title outright after dominating the field and finishing 15 strokes under par with a 198. The Cougars from Colorado Christian, ranked 21st as a team on Golfstat, also captured the team title, and finished the tournament 16 strokes below par with an 871 total.

Poston led Fort Lewis at the tournament, carding single-round scores of 71, 73, and 73 to finish just four strokes above par with a 217. Ronald Kildall III finished a single stroke behind Poston with a 218 for a tie in 25th,

ROUND ONE – 288, +4
Riley Rottschafer was the lead man for the Skyhawks in round one, finishing as one of just 11 competitors to finish at least below par with a 70. While Rottschafer racked up a pair of bogeys, three birdies helped offset the score. Poston tallied a par in his opening round, tallying four birdies and bogeys. Nicholas Krantz posted a 72 through round one, putting three Skyhawks among the top 18 to open the tournament.

ROUND TWO – 292, +8
While Poston remained the front runner for FLC, he dropped two strokes compared to his first round with a 73 his second time around. Poston finished at par through the front nine but found bogeys on holes 12 and 15 through the back nine. Kildall III carded five birdies to just a single bogey heading into the 18th hole, but an unlucky triple bogey on the final hole limited him to just a 70 (-1).

ROUND THREE – 291, +7
Kildall III and Krantz had the strongest performances through the final round, finishing just one above par each with 72s. Kildall III and Krantz each found a series of birdies, but untimely birdies kept the scores up near par. While Poston carded his second 73 of the tournament in the final round, he posted four birdies through the round and wound up limited by his six bogeys.
