RJGA South Central Shootout awaits Skyhawks at the Inn of the Mountain Gods

DURANGO, Colo. – Following a top-three finish last week, the Fort Lewis College men's golf team is heading to Mescalero, N.M. to take on a field of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and Lone Star Conference teams at the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association South Central Shootout at the Inn of the Mountain Gods co-hosted by the RJGA and Western New Mexico on Sep. 25-26.
 
Fort Lewis has recorded top-five finishes in each outing this season including fifth at The Writz at Mile High and third at the Farmers Insurance Sam Proal Invitational. Henry Poston led the Skyhawks last weekend, rolling out scores of 73 and 72 in rounds one and two before finding his rhythm and posting a career-low 66 in the final round. Poston finished the invitational five under par (211) to capture fifth place.
 
The field at this week's tournament includes Colorado Mesa University, Colorado State University Pueblo, Colorado Christian, University of Arkansas Fort Smith, Texas A&M International University, Midwestern State University, Lubbock Christian University, West Texas A&M University, University of Texas Permian Basin, and Western New Mexico.
 
Inn of the Mountain Gods, designed by Ted Robinson, features 7,212 yards of championship golf from the black tees with a par of 72. Additionally, the Inn of the Mountain Gods was recently ranked 23rd in Golf Digest's "Top 40 Casino Golf Courses".
 
Looking Ahead
The Skyhawks men will take next week off before heading to Westminster, Colo., for its final test of the fall season at Regis University's Regis Fall Invitational at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve on Oct. 9-10.
