The Skyhawks were one of eight teams among the 19 in the tournament to post a sub-300 score in round one on an eight-over-par 296 to edge Colorado School of Mines' and Cal State Monterey Bay's 297s (+9) and sit behind Sonoma State who posted a 293 (+5).

Cal State Easy Bay, who received votes on the latest Bushnell/Golfweek DII Coaches Poll, leads the tournament as the only squad to finish below par across the first 18 holes with a 283 (-5) team total. Leading the Pioneers and the individual leaderboard is senior Aaron Lee who tied Mines' Lucas Schulte with a tournament-low 67 (-5). Lee owned a 59 with three holes remaining before play was suspended.
