Men’s golf prepped for final tune-up at RJGA Palm Valley Classic

DURANGO, Colo. – For the second straight year, the Fort Lewis men's golf team will make its final regular-season appearance at the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association's Palm Valley Classic over at the three-course Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz., this Monday and Tuesday Apr. 6-7.
 
The Skyhawks are coming off back-to-back top 10 finishes in as many tournaments, including seventh place at the Coyote Classic (Mar. 23-24) on the strength of an 895 (+31) team score, as well as ninth place at The Sam Proal (Mar. 30-31) last week after shooting a combined 880 (+28). Traejan Andrews and Chase Rogers notched a pair of top 25 placings as individuals, with Andrews leading the charge in T-8th on a 211 (-2), followed by Rogers in T-22nd on a 217 (+4).
 
Palm Valley Golf Club features three nine-hole courses, which provide three different options for 18-hole layouts. The North Course spans as far as 3,540 yards, the South Course 3,475 yards, and the West Course 3,410 yards. The tournament will take place on the North and South Courses, featuring 7,035 yards from the championship tees with a par of 72.
 
Fort Lewis will be tested in the 20-team tournament, up against nine teams ranked on the SCOREBOARD top 50, including No. 13-ranked Colorado State University Pueblo, No. 23 Cal State East Bay, T-No. 24 Colorado Mesa University, T-No. 24 University of Texas Permian Basin, No. 30 Simon Fraser University, No. 35 Midwestern State University, No. 37 Cal State San Bernardino, No. 39 Chico State, No. 42 University of Texas at Tyler, No. 45 Cameron University, and No. 50 Colorado School of Mines.
 
Representing the Skyhawks this week are Andrews, Rogers, Jake Chesler, Jordan Jennings, and Ian Henderson. Davis Johnson will also compete as an unattached individual.
 
Up Next
All that remains for Fort Lewis following the conclusion of the tournament are the 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships to be held at a familiar Boulder Creek Golf Club out in Boulder City, Nev., for the fourth-straight year.
