DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis men's soccer team (5-1-5, 1-1-1 RMAC) will look to get back in the win column this week as the Skyhawks head to the Front Range for its toughest challenge of the season with a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches at No. 4-ranked University of Colorado Colorado Springs (9-0-2, 2-0-1 RMAC) and No. 7-ranked CSU Pueblo (8-2-1, 3-0-0 RMAC) on Thursday and Sunday.

Last Time Out
Fort Lewis is coming off a 1-1 split last weekend in which the Skyhawks posted a 5-0 route over South Dakota Mines (1-8-2, 1-1-2 RMAC) powered by a two-goal, one-assist performance from David Citron before suffering its first loss of the season, 2-1 to Regis (5-2-5, 4-0 RMAC) on Sunday.

The Skyhawks dominated the Hardrockers, holding possession for over 60 minutes of the match while firing a barrage of 19 shots, including 10 shots on goal. Gabriel Legendre, Tomas Duenes, and Theo Bergman each supplied goals in the match alongside Citron. Against the Rangers, Fort Lewis once again dominated in offensive possessions with 15 shots against RU's six, however, it was the Rangers who found the back of the net twice across three shots on goal thanks to a pair of set pieces. Anton Hjalmarsson notched the only goal by a Skyhawk with a close-range volley in the twelfth minute.

Sharing The Offense
Fort Lewis has had a balanced attack this season thus far, with 14 of the 19 Skyhawks to touch the pitch, scoring a point through the first eleven matches, including goalkeeper Lucas Martin, who earned his first career assist in a stunning 2-2 draw against MSU Billings (3-3-3, 2-1 GNAC) back on Sep. 21.

Citron leads the roster with 14 points on four goals and six assists, but Duenes sits closely behind with four goals and two assists for 10 points of his own. Legendre and Bergman have each supplied another three goals, but Legendre holds the edge with a trio of assists alongside Casey Stracher, who has burst onto the scene with a goal and three assists in his first season as a Skyhawk. Hjalmarsson has registered two goals and two assists in only five matches, with Fabrizio Aguilera adding another two goals in 293 minutes on the pitch to round out Fort Lewis' multi-goal scorers.

Top-Ranked Mountain Lions
UCCS has had one of the best starts across Division II this season, with the Mountain Lions making its third consecutive appearance as the No. 4 ranked team on the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. As a squad, UCCS is averaging 1.91 goals per game on 14.5 shots while holding opponents to 0.64 goals against 9.9 shots per game.

Senior Dani Barajas headlines the Mountain Lions attached with six goals on the season in just 22 shots, 11 of which have been placed on frame. Miles Seminario and Nick Walker have supplied four goals apiece behind Barajas, with six other players registering a goal as well. In goal stands junior and Bellevue, Washington, native Soren Russell who has started in 10 matches this season. Facing 79 total shots, Russell has posted an 8-0-1 record with three shutouts–one combined with Danny Fischer–has seven goals-against for a 0.75 goals-against-average, and has made 24 saves with a 77.4 percent save percentage.

Round Two with the ThunderWolves
Sunday is shaping up for a competitive rematch between the Skyhawks and top-ranked ThunderWolves. Back on Sep. 26 in Durango, Fort Lewis looked to emerge from a physical contest with a 2-1 victory over CSU Pueblo, but in the 87th minute, a timely mistake sent The Pack to the penalty line where Caio Oliveira would ultimately find the back of the net and force the 2-2 draw.

Since then, CSU Pueblo has gone on to post a 3-1 record with its only loss coming at the hands of UCCS by a 2-1 decision in Pueblo. In conference play, the ThunderWolves have tallied three straight wins and outscored opponents 6-2. Oliveira continues to lead the RMAC with 19 points on the season thanks to six goals and seven assists. Shjon Andrews has added another five goals and one assist, while Ignatius DeMark has six assists to his name. Behind them, four ThunderWolves had supplied two goals each with four additional players registering a goal or an assist thus far.
