DURANGO, Colo. – With its four-game and final regular-season road trip of the season now in the books, the no. 19-ranked Fort Lewis men's soccer team (8-2-5, 4-2-1 RMAC) is finally back at home on Dirks Field this Friday and Sunday for a pair of Blue-Out, Senior Day, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches against Westminster (4-6-5, 0-4-3 RMAC) and Colorado Mesa (4-8-2, 1-5-1 RMAC).
 
Blue-Out and Senior Day
Fans are encouraged to get to the pitch early on Friday, with the Skyhawks set to giveaway 100 Blue-Out t-shirts and 50 vuvuzelas. Tickets can be purchased in advance through HomeTown Ticketing. On Sunday, the Skyhawks will honor its six graduating seniors including Gabriel Legendre, Tomas Duenes, Thomas Kirkham, Jakob Larson, Adnan Elaqad, and Luke Pope.
 
The Final Stretch
With only matches remaining in the regular season, Fort Lewis currently stands fifth in the conference standings with 13 total points, putting the Skyhawks in strong contention for one of the final three spots remaining in the 2024 RMAC Tournament alongside Colorado School of Mines (14 pts, 5-9-2, 4-2-2 RMAC) and MSU Denver (11 pts, 6-7-3, 3-3-2 RMAC) while Regis (19 pts, 7-2-6, 6-0-1 RMAC), no. 16-ranked CSU Pueblo (18 pts, 11-3-1, 6-1 RMAC), and no. 5-ranked UCCS (16 pts, 12-1-2, 5-1-1 RMAC) have already clinched.
 
Key Pieces
David Citron leads the Skyhawks and ranks among the best in the south-central region with five goals and nine assists for 19 total points. Citron's offensive production puts him third in points, second in assists, and 13th in total goals in the region. Behind Citron stands Tomas Duenes with five goals and five assists for 15 points, while Gabriel Legendre and Fabrizio Aguilera have each scored four goals as well. In total, 11 different Skyhawks have found the back of the net this season with 14 individuals supplying at least one point this year.
 
Scouting the Griffins
Westminster enters the week having lost two consecutive games and losing or drawing in its last seven matches. The Griffins last won against Regis in a non-conference match by a 2-0 score at home in Salt Lake City, Utah. WU ranks ninth in the league in offense with 1.13 goals per game against its seventh-ranked defense allowing 1.4 goals per game.

On the front line, junior Jack Cardwell and senior Landon Ward headline the roster with an identical four goals and two assists each for ten total points. Behind the duo, Owen Gallo and Alejandro Puente stand as the only other multi-goal scorers, while 14 different Griffins have supplied at least one point. Roark Looney stands as the lead man between the posts, having started in 13 of WU's 15 matches this season. Looney owns a 1.38 goals against average and a 72.7 percent save percentage with 18 goals allowed and 48 saves against 135 shots faced and three shutouts.
 
Scouting the Mavericks
Colorado Mesa will be looking to bounce back this week after dropping a pair of matches to UCCS and CSU Pueblo last weekend after dominating Colorado Christian the week prior, 4-0. Before heading to Durango, the Mavericks will make a pit stop in Alamosa, Colo., for a 3 p.m. match with Adams State on Friday.
 
CMU made a pair of trips to Durango earlier this season and picked up a pair of 5-0 and 3-0 wins over Simon Fraser (2-8-2, 1-5 GNAC) and MSU Billings (5-4-4, 4-2-1 GNAC), respectively, while also tying now no. 13-ranked St. Mary's (11-2-2, 7-0 LSC) 1-1. The Mavericks sit middle of the pack as a team, posting 1.57 goals per game while allowing 1.43 from its opponents. While 14 Mavs have scored this season, including five players with two or more goals, Marc Bonafe stands as the biggest threat with four goals and six assists as the only CMU player with double-digit points at 14. Diego Chavez has been the only man between the posts for the Mavericks and has made 74 saves and allowed 20 goals for a 78.7 save percentage against 225 shots faced.
 
Regular Season Finale
Fort Lewis has one final regular season match at home on Dirks Field against Adams State (2-9-2, 0-6-1 RMAC) this upcoming Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m.
