Women’s soccer sweeps RMAC Player of the Week award for first time in program history

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After earning a pair of hard-fought 3-0 wins on the road last week, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team has swept the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards. Fifth-year Riley Bravin was named Goalkeeper of the Week, junior Josie Coulter earned Offensive Player of the Week, and junior Rachel Peebles secured Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

The clean sweep of the weekly awards was the first in program history for Skyhawks women's soccer. The awards were the first of all three player's careers. Fort Lewis is now 6-1-1 overall, 3-0 in conference play, and has won five straight matches.

Bravin had another strong week in goal, playing 45 minutes in both matches, as is typical in the team's two-goalkeeper system. In Friday's win over New Mexico Highlands, she had a season-high with five saves, followed by a three-save outing in the victory against Adams State. Bravin owns a .50 goals against average and has not conceded a goal in conference play. The fifth-year ranks third in the conference in saves percentage (.875) and fourth in goals against average (.50).

Coulter earned Offensive Player of the Week honors in her first week back on the pitch after an injury in mid-September. She returned to form quickly and collected five points in the weekend sweep. She played 57 minutes with one shot on goal in Friday's win, getting her rhythm back after missing two matches. Sunday is where she shined, scoring a career-high two goals and assisting on the third en route to a 3-0 win. She now ranks second on the team with seven points and leads the squad with three assists. Coulter ranks second in the conference in assists per game (.50) and fifth in points per game (1.17).

Peebles is always a sure thing on defense, and last week was no different. The junior averaged 76.5 minutes on the pitch and anchored the defensive line that earned back-to-back 3-0 shutouts. In addition to her stingy defense, Peebles knocked in her first career goal, the eventual game-winner in Sunday's win over Adams State. Peebles and the rest of her finely-tuned defensive line are holding opponents to 6.5 shots on goal per game this season. Fort Lewis ranks fourth in the conference in goals allowed per game (.88) and second in margin (+1.62).

Fort Lewis (6-1-1, 3-0 RMAC) returns to Dirks Field on Friday with a 4:30 p.m. kickoff against No. 1 Colorado School of Mines (9-0-1, 3-0-1) in what will likely be a decisive match when you look ahead to postseason play. The Skyhawks wrap up the weekend on Sunday at noon against UCCS (2-6-2, 0-4 RMAC)
