Skyhawks men’s soccer draws No. 6 seed for 2024 NCAA DII Men’s Soccer Tournament

11/18/2024 5:40:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second straight season, the top-ranked Skyhawks from Fort Lewis will make an appearance in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament as the sixth seed in Super Region 4, earning a second-round match at third-seeded University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. As a top six seed, the Skyhawks earned a first-round bye on Friday before lining up opposite the Mountain Lions on Sunday.

The no. 17-ranked Skyhawks (12-3-6) and the no. 3-ranked Mountain Lions (14-2-4) will meet for the second time this season in the second-round match this Sunday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. at Mountain Lion Stadium. Fort Lewis won the first go-around in the regular season 3-1.

Sunday will mark the second consecutive appearance for the Skyhawks in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament and the 13th overall across the program's 35 seasons. It will also be the second time in as many years that FLC and UCCS have faced off in both squad's first match of the national tournament, with the Skyhawks pulling off an incredible three-goal come-from-behind victory against the Mountain Lions in Wichita Falls, Texas, last season.

Fort Lewis has won six NCAA regional championships and claimed three national championships to tie two-time defending national champions Franklin Pierce, Lynn University, and the University of Tampa for the third-most all-time in Division II.

Tickets can be purchased on game day on the campus of UCCS, which is a cash-only venue. Fans can stream the match live for free on the RMAC Network or follow along with live statistics courtesy of UCCS Athletics. A full preview will be released later in the week.
