Postseason Outlook
Fort Lewis heads into the final stretch of conference action with a 5-2 RMAC record and 15 points. The Skyhawks are third in the standings, one point behind Regis (16 points) and five points back from No. 2-ranked Colorado State University Pueblo (12-0-2, 6-0-2 RMAC) with 20 points. CSUP, however, has just two matches left down the stretch compared to three for much of the field. The top six teams qualify for the 2026 RMAC Tournament, with the top two seeds each receiving a bye in the quarterfinal round.

As for the NCAA Tournament, final selections will be announced on the NCAA selection show on Nov. 9 at 8:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. Starting this year, the NCAA Power Index (NPI) will be used to determine the 40-team NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship. Teams will still be seeded regionally with 10 teams from each super region. In the latest NPI rankings released last Monday (Oct. 19), Fort Lewis checked in at No. 9 in Super Region 4 and No. 28 nationally.

Last Time Out
The Skyhawks are red-hot after a 7-1 rout of Colorado School of Mines (0-12-3, 0-6-1 RMAC) last Sunday (Oct. 18). Fort Lewis rifled 16 shots, 13 on goal, and six corner kicks while holding the Orediggers to just four attempts on frame. William Bretvik was one of five Skyhawks to score in the contest and recorded his first career hat trick. Francisco Pinto picked up three points with a penalty kick goal and an assist, Alexandros Papakonstantinou three points with his collegiate goal and second assist, and Julián Rojas and Chase Larson scored their first goals as well. Kevin Pasinski and Zachary Lanman grabbed their first assists of the season, and Noam Maggartou also posted a pair of assists.

A Look at the Hardrockers
South Dakota Mines heads into Friday's contest with hopes to snap a two-match skid following a 3-3 draw with Colorado Mesa University (4-3-7, 2-2-3 RMAC) last Sunday (Oct. 18) after falling 3-1 to Westminster University (5-6-4, 3-3-1 RMAC) the Friday (Oct. 16) prior. The Hardrockers' last win came 4-0 against Colorado Christian University (3-8-4, 2-5 RMAC) on Oct. 11.

Second-year head coach Teren Schuster has the Hardrockers averaging an RMAC second-best 2.53 goals on 15.3 shots per match, while defensively holding opponents to an eighth-best 1.67 goals on 11.1 shots per match. South Dakota Mines has not been shut out this year.

Senior goalkeeper Claudio Otto will most likely protect the posts, and with nine starts and ten matches played, Otto boasts a 1.84 goals-against average and 69.5 percent save percentage with 18 goals conceded and 41 saves against 112 shots faced. 10 different Hardrockers have scored this season, but the combination of freshman Lucas Miranda and junior Nickolas North leads the squad with 10 goals and eight goals, respectively. Junior Shon West also made 10 assists.

Running with the Rangers
No. 17 nationally ranked Regis will face Adams State University (2-10-1, 1-6 RMAC) on Friday, Oct. 23, in Alamosa, Colo., ahead of Sunday's match. Currently, the Rangers are riding a four-match winning streak and are fresh off a 3-1 senior day win over Westminster. Most notably, RU has scored 11 goals in the last four matches.

Sixth-year head coach Taylor Diem has his squad second in the RMAC standings, and eighth nationally in NPI. The Rangers played strictly top-25 opponents in their non-conference schedule, and picked up a pair of signature wins over then No. 3 Fort Hays State University (10-2-3, 8-0-1 GAC), 1-0, and then No. 2 Seattle Pacific University (12-2-1, 5-1-1 GNAC), 3-1.

Regis puts up 1.64 goals per game on an average of 16.1 shots, but defensively is where the Rangers shine, boasting the league's top-rated defense, allowing 0.64 goals on 7.3 shots per match. Sophomore Zach Jennings awaits between the posts, where he has conceded just nine goals, posted six shutouts, and made 32 saves for a 78 percent save percentage against 102 shots faced. Offensively, eight different Rangers have scored, and three have netted four or more goals. Senior Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar and sophomore Michael Ajagbe are tied with five goals apiece.

Looking Ahead
Fort Lewis will close out the 2026 regular season at home with its final RMAC match against Adams State at Dirks Field Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. The Skyhawks will also recognize their three graduating seniors before the match.
