Fort Lewis College cross country heads to NCAA DII National Championships

The Skyhawks women will compete as a team while the men will send Elijah Smith as an individual

DURANGO, Colo. – Skyhawks cross country will represent Fort Lewis College at the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships on Saturday in Sacramento, California when the women's team and the men's qualifier, Elijah Smith, toe the line at Haggin Oaks Golf Course.

Thirty-four teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.

Athletes from member institutions will earn All-American recognition by finishing among the top 40 athletes in their gender's respective races at the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships. Last season, Heck earned First Team All-American honors with a 26th-place finish--she was the first Fort Lewis College All-American in any sport since 2017.
