Cross country earns four All-Region honors in Denver

DENVER, Colo. – Skyhawks men's and women's cross country battled a slick and snowy course at the South Central Regional on Saturday and came away with eighth-place and seventh-place finishes, respectively.

Men's 10k, 8th Place (195 points)
The men's field featured six nationally ranked teams in the field of 24, and the Skyhawks ran away with an eighth-place finish. Fort Lewis was led by junior Elijah Smith who placed 21st to earn All-Region honors with a time of 32:11.76. He was followed by a fellow All-Region honoree, junior Cebastian Marquez, who place 24th with a time of 32:20.83.

Junior Brady Burrough was the third finisher for the Skyhawks, coming in 39th at 32:57.77. The scoring five was rounded out by senior Caden Resendez (43rd, 33:04.49) and Cesar Diaz (68th, 33:59.12). Additional finishers for the Skyhawks were sophomore Skyler McIntyre (81st, 34:19.31) and freshman Andres Cura (92nd, 34:54.00).

No. 2 Colorado School of Mines came away with the team title, followed by No. 5 Adams State. The individual crown went to Romain Legendre of Adams State.

Women's 6k, 7th Place (198 points)
The women's field boasted 10 nationally ranked teams, including the No. 15 Skyhawks. In the field of 26 teams, Fort Lewis place seventh and came in ahead of No. 13 Colorado Christian. Junior Hannah Hartwell led the team with an All-Region finish after crossing the line in sixth with a time of 21:49.01. She was backed up by sophomore Linda Weigang who placed 11th en route to All-Region nods with a time of 22:09.38.

Junior Althea Griffith was the third finisher for Fort Lewis, placing 50th with a time of 23:43.55. She was closely followed by sophomore Tessa Stadler who clocked a time of 23:54.44 to place 54th. The final scorer for the Skyhawks was junior Marisol Castilleja who turned in a 77th place finish at 24:23.98. Additional finishers for Fort Lewis were freshmen Jade Reid (114th, 25:46.01) and Sophie Hamm (117th, 25:48.98).

No. 1 Adams State took home the team crown, followed by No. 4 Colorado School of Mines. Tristian Spence of Adams State earned the individual title.
