Skyhawks women’s golf heads west for Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout

DURANGO, Colo. – Ready to ditch the snow and head back out on the greens, the Fort Lewis women's golf team is headed to Alameda, Calif., and Corica Park for its first challenge of the spring at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by California State University East Bay.

The tournament marks the start of a four-tournament stretch for the Skyhawks this spring before heading to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev., from Apr. 21-23.
 
Corica Park, and most notably its South Course, was designed by architect Rees Jones and was named the 12th-best municipal course in America in 2021 by GOLF Magazine. The course features an Australian Sandbelt style with 5,903 yards of play and a par of 72.
 
Fort Lewis will play a round of 18 on both Monday and Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
 
Featured at the spring tournament are a plethora of top programs from the west and south-central regions including Point Loma Nazarene, Academy of Art, Cal State San Marcos, Cal State Monterey Bay, Biola, Regis, George Fox, Dominican, Cal State East Bay, Saint Martin's, Simon Fraser, Cal State Los Angeles, Sonoma State, Chico State, and Western Washington.
 
Looking Ahead
The Skyhawks will see a two-week break in action following this week's tournament before returning for the DBU Invitational at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif., on Mar. 18-19.
