PUEBLO, Colo. – Fort Lewis' Kendal Gutierrez and Sarah Grenemyer led the Skyhawks this weekend in The Southern Colorado Open at Walking Stick Golf Course, finishing in a tie for 47th place as individuals. Overall, the Skyhawks women's golf team took home an 11th-place finish.

Due to inclement weather forecasts on Monday, the ladies played both rounds this Sunday to wrap up the two-round tournament.

CSU Pueblo captured the team title on its home course after edging Simon Fraser with a score of 576 (290, 286) as the only team to finish an even par. On the individual side, CSU Pueblo's Kylie Severin and Simon Fraser's Meera Minhas shared the first-place title with an identical 140 (-4) on the cards.

Kendal Gutierrez carded the best performance among the Skyhawks in round one, scoring 11 strokes over par (83). Sabrina Ladd trailed closely behind with a 13-over-par finish (85) while Grenemyer had an impressive round with 13 pars, carding in a 78 (+6), however, because Grenemyer competed as an individual her scores could not contribute to the overall team total.

Ladd showed out in round two, collecting 3 birdies to card in a 79 (+7) and secure a tie for a 50th-place finish. Kendal Gutierrez followed suit and improved by two strokes to finish eight over par with an 80. Grenemyer birdied on hole 10, but a quartet of double bogeys held the freshmen's score at 85 (+13).

Fort Lewis tallied a team total of 665 to finish 89 strokes above par backed by single-round scores of 340 (+52) and 325 (+37).
