Windy conditions cage Skyhawks in early rounds down at Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Ronald Kildall III leads the Fort Lewis College men's golf team as he sits in a tie for 50th place as an individual after the first two rounds of the Midwestern State Invitational at the Wichita Falls Country Club.
 
The Skyhawks, battling windy conditions and a challenging field of competition, sit in a tie for 16th place as a team after playing 36 holes on Monday.
 
Odessa College leads the tournament, wrapping the day up with a 581 (289, 292) and sitting thirteen strokes above par. Fort Lewis College finished 64 strokes above par, putting up a 632 (316, 316) and tying with Regis heading into the third round on Tuesday.
 
Adam Bresnu from Odessa sits in first place after the first day, finishing with a 140 to sit two strokes below par. Killdall III had the strongest performance for the Skyhawks, totaling 155 (76, 79) across two rounds and finishing thirteen over par.
 
While the Skyhawks struggled to gain momentum through the first 18 holes of play, Kildall III led the charge in round one scoring five over par (76) while draining one birdie. Henry Poston trailed three strokes behind Kildall, carding in a 79 (+8) and earning two birdies of his own.
 
Fort Lewis, continuing to battle unfavorable conditions, was led by Jake Chesler through round two, who scored a 78 (+7) in his second trip around the course. Kildall finished with the second-best round for the team, carding in a 79 (+8) after overcoming two double-bogeys on the front nine. 
 
As a team, Fort Lewis landed 92 pars and picked up 7 birdies. The Skyhawks averaged a 3.50 finish on par threes, 4.61 on par fours, and 5.13 on par fives.
 
The Skyhawks will tee off for the final round of the Midwestern State Invitational tomorrow morning, Mar. 26, at 7:15 a.m. Mountain Standard Time
